I am looking for information on the Rae shipping family Kirkcudbright/Liverpool in early 1800s.  What is their relationship to Alexander Rae, Vintner/Innkeeper Kirkcudbright who migrated to Australia in 1854 with his daughter Jane Rae, married to William Kerr, and their children.  Any information on William Kerr, born Minnigaff, and Rae family members welcome.  I am descended from William Kerr and Jane Rae.

Hi EB
Archibald McLean - not certain when he came to Australia but he married Elizabeth Bevan on 8 November 1861 at Wantabadgery in NSW - they had 14 children, one of whom John was my grandfather.  I believe he was a Railway Guard living in Gilmerton, Perthshire.  If you have any information about his early life I would be grateful to receive.  If he is related to you, I can give you lots of information about his life here in Australia.    Regards Helke

Alexander McLean's brother John (1875-1953) was my grandfather.  I really don't know anything about their work at the Waterworks, I thought they lived at property Bethungra Park.  I have a list of their children, plus list of siblings families, if you don't have.  Let me know if you want.

I am so pleased to hear from you.  My grandfather was John McLean who was son of Archibald and Elizabeth born 1875.  I do not have much information about Archibald, only what I could find through Births/Deaths/Marriages so anything you can give me will be great.  Do you know when he came to Australia?  etc etc

Thank you from Helke - not sure how to do personal message as I am happy to give you my email address to contact me direct

Australia / Re: John and Margaret DEVINE

Hi there
I am interested to know about the book 'Poverty to Promise' - I am thinking that Johanna and her brothers were orphans coming to join other family members on the other side of the world.

Also wondering if you know anything about Langs Creek which is where the Devines were living in the 1870-95 period.  I believe it was a tent settlement of around 800 people.  I visited Langs Creek Cemetery near Boorowa a couple of years ago and spoke to people in the local historical society, but they could not tell me much about it.
