The Common Room / Re: Does anyone know of any current Ancestry special offers?
« on: Tuesday 05 March 24 15:37 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
Have had a little trouble over renewing my sub with Ancestry.
As of today they have offered me £89.99 for UK renewal not £59.99. the only other offer at present is £50.99 DNA.
Getting very annoyed with Ancestry, but do use and enjoy the site a lot so have now renewed at £89.99. Have made a saving but not as much expected.
Sandra please keep posting your offer notices, I NEVER receive any emails from Ancestry -long story, so without you would end up paying full price.

Hi,
Probably married March Q 1931 Batteesea maiden name Mackay.
Their first child born Sept Q 1931 Lambeth
You can search for the above on
https://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl
They are on 1939 Register, with other children info is redacted, but you should be able to find these children by searching freebmd.
Have not given any names as people may be alive!

Hello Kearns,
Pleasure to help.
However there a lots of "Mary Cole" who died in 1823, only selected this one because you mention
Westerleigh, Glos.
Do you know what relation she was to the Cole family shipwreck in 1818? Or who her parents were?

The Common Room / Re: Engaged or Good friends

Hi,
The name of the giver was Jessie Curtis not Smith. Married as Jessie Curtis = Stanley Bungay. Plaitford School where she had worked presented her with a silver tea service.
There are other members of the Curtis family also listed as giving gifts, are they related? Can only assume they were a couple accepted as such by family but probably not engaged.
