The Common Room / Re: Conundrum - logic makes nonsense of the facts or not?

Thank you so much for all your input and very grateful. I have ordered certificates but it seems the facts support the death of Mary Ann and marriage to Sarah Mulloy. I will report back once I get them.

The Common Room / Conundrum - logic makes nonsense of the facts or not?
« on: Sunday 17 December 23 12:00 GMT (UK)  »
From iving fmily members i obtained information that my Mary Ann Knight b 1821 Hampton Wick dies in 1901. She married Thomas Hale from Stanstead Abbotts and lived in Brentford. Up until 1850 her children are recorded as having  mother "Mary Ann". After 1850 the mother is recorded as Sarah.

Did Mary Ann die  and Thomas remarry or is this a name thing with two other Mary Ann's in the immediate family (her mother and daughter)? Census after 1850 showed a consistent birth of 1824. i can't find her in 1841 - she's not witht he rest of the family.

There is a death of a "Mary" at the right time Brentford but not "Mary Ann". There is also a marriage in London of a Thomas Hale to a "Sarah" at the right time (also from Hampron Wick) and he recorded as a Market Gargener which he was.

Logic says she died and he remarried yet family say Mary Ann lived until 1901. What to believe? Thanks

Excellent finds everyone. Thank you so much!

The aged 70 death is Kensington.....would that be Ladbroke Grove? How do I find the infirmary entries/Marylebone guardians? Thanks

Yes, Frederick, wife is living in Hampstead in 1901 Census. Yes, daughter Mary Ellen.

Rosinish. BarryD, yes, he was still working as a butler.

Annie, The informant of the 58 year old was George Thomas, Coroner. The deceased had a Chiswick address not Marylebone. His age only varies by a couple of years by census.

Thanks.

Thanks for your help. The death aged 58 in Marylebone is incorrect - that person was a railway telegraph operator (linesman) definitely not a butler.

In 1900 he is marked as Deceased at his other sons wedding (William Leopold/Sophia Jess. The 1895 address of Croydon St is from the death cert of his daughter Louisa. The Muchmore's are at 10 Croydon St. In 1896 at his sons Frederick Harry/Laura Muchmore wedding the address given for them is Luton St, Marylebone. On pages before and after of his sons wedding "Deceased" are recorded.

He was in Bedford Prison in 1891 and the age is incorrect compared with the other census and records I have. He was definitely born in 1834.

Hi All,

I wonder if someone can help me find the death of William Henry Hutchinson, born 1834 Crowhurst, Sussex, last known living residence 7 Croydon St, Marylebone in 1896. His occupation was a butler which took him all over the country having worked in London, Richmond, Kent, Wellingborough, Manchester, Brighton, Nottinghamshire.

I've searched and searched. Marylebone seems the most likely as his son Frederick Harry married a neighbour Louisa Muchmore in Croydon St but who knows! If anyone can help or direct me to resources I would be very grateful. Thank you.
