I am using a Windows 7 at home and recently found that we are unable to carry on using the same anti virus.
 
I have since tried several others but they are freezing the computer up. I presume that this is due to the age/system incompatibility.

At the moment i haven't got anything on there, it has Windows Defender which i have switched on and updated and turned the Firewall back on. But am i correct in thinking that Defender on Windows 7 is not an actual anti-virus?

I have seen Microsoft  Security Essentials mentioned elsewhere but i just wondered what anyone else thought.

Whilst it is an older machine, it isn't something that is up for being changed at the moment.

Please can anyone help me...i have loaded Spybot onto an ME system and it has been working fine for several weeks but today when the Internet Explorer was opened it came up with an alert regarding a registry change..even though the option to "block registry changes" was used it still keeps loading the (supposedly denied) page each time Internet Explorer is opened.
The page appears to an authentic Microsoft page for updates and is regarding the Internet Explorer 7 download,which,if you read further down the page it actually states that it is not compatible with the system that is on the computer etc ...i have checked with the computer settings as i wondered if the "home page" needed re-setting but it does'nt-it is still set to what has been used all along so i am at a loss as to what to try next-if i was to re-install Spybot would'nt the same thing just keep on happening?Is it a virus or something??
Grateful for any suggestions as i am not too hot on such things.....Thank You

I can make out the words "Son In Law" and "Daughter" but it's the words between them i am not sure about.
The more i look at them the more i think it may look a bit like "visitor",just wondered what anyone else thought...(providing i manage to put it on here correctly of course!!!)

I have an XP and put a password on my User Account a couple of days ago.When i attempt to log in it won't accept it and i can't get into my computer..
There's only me that uses it and i wrote it down as i did it so can't understand why this has happened ...I have been sat for ages trying all different variations but still no luck..
Is there any way around this at all???
Please help,i'm getting desperate!

Can anyone help me out with this please?
It's taken from the 1891 Census and it's the last word i am struggling with-to me it looks like "Andalusian"but it appears in the last column which is normally saved for "impediments".
As far as i know the person in question was born in Macclesfield so i am just wondering if the enumerator mis-heard and if so what else it may be??
