Australia / George Charles Wayne
« on: Monday 26 October 20 08:04 GMT (UK)  »
I am still trying to track down my great-grandfather, George Charles Wayne. He died in Melbourne in Dec. 1917, an obituary gave him as a master mariner, which I know is correct, but it says RNR., would that be Royal Naval Reserve?  If so, how do I go about finding any info. they may have on him?

my g.grandmother, florence ethel blandford was listed on 1881 census as a patient at this facility.
Does anyone know whether there is a record of patients.?  She was on the way to Aust. by 1884.
I found her baptism (age 18) while she was a patient, and wondered about this.

She doesn't appear on 1871 census, anywhere, so is a bit of a mystery.

Hope someone can help.

Cheers, June

Hi, My g.g.grandmother had a sister, Ann Pilkinton, born 4/11/1837 died 1871..  In 1860 she married William Frederick White (police constable) but he died in 1868.  They had 3 children - Frederick J. 1862 -1867, Alfred 1864? and Charles 1866?.  In 1871 census Ann is living with Alfred and Charles in Terrace St. Milton. I have not been able to trace Alfred or Charles past 1871. White is such a common name, and Alfred & Charles seem to be quite common as well.  William F.'s father was also in the police force, but I can't seem to get far with him, either.  Help!!!!!

My g.g.grandmother's younger brother, Will. Owen Pilkinton was born Milton, next Gravesend in late 1843 or Jan. 1844. He appear in 1851 and 1861 census at home with parents. Can't find him in 1871.  In 1881 he seems to be in Cheltenham, Glos. with a wife, Emma- a 'mineral water worker', although he is now PilkinGton, and says he was born in Pimlico. However, he again appears in St. Pancras with Emma -still mineral water worker- now born Gravesend. No sign in 1901, but in 1911 he is a widower living in Hendon- retired mineral water worker.  I have been unable to find any marriage for him, or death of Emma.  What would this 'mineral water worker' be?  He is the only member of my g.g. grndmother's family I have been unable to pin down. Any suggestions? All you wonderful people out there have been a great help in the past, hope you can come to the fore again!

Will.O. Pilkinton was born 1843/4 in Gravesend, Kent son of John P. and Sarah (nee Biggs).  He is the youngest brother of my g.g.grandmother, Sarah Blandford (nee Pilkinton).  My problem is this- he appear on 1851 and 1861 census living with parents, and then disappears. Yesterday, quite by accident I found him on 1911 census as Pilkington.  There are no other William Owen's, so this must be him. I think I have also found him on 1891- but just as William Pilkington.  This family has lost so many of its children. Did he emigrate, and then return, or what happened to him??  Because Sarah appears to have been an inmate of Leavesden from 1869 until 1917 I am trying to find any descendants of her siblings who may be able to shed some light on her fate.  You have helped me before, so here's hoping someone can do so again.

Australia / Thomas WENNY/WENNER-2nd wife
« on: Friday 23 December 11 03:28 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, Hope someone can help.  I have an ancestor, Thomas Wenny, transported to Sydney in 1819 on coromandel. 1st wife, 1825 Mary ann smith?? convict-lifer, arrived sydney 1824. from Parramatta factory, married thomas, 1825.
Can find no death for Mary Ann, but I'm sure that I found a marr. to Eliza/Elizabeth ? at St.Philip's church, Sydney later.  Children, Louisa 1831, Rachel and Mary Ann 1843 and Lavinia, 1846.  One has mother down as elizabeth, and others are eliza (or vice versa).  My problem, is 1828 has Mary Ann still with Thomas- Louisa born 1831-seems odd that the next child is 1843.  My concern is that the girls have different mothers!!!! Eliza/Elizabeth Wenner died in 1854, ageed 45.

Where do I go from here??

Cheers, Junemac.

New Zealand Completed Requests / arthur jack woods
« on: Saturday 19 November 11 01:27 GMT (UK)  »
Hello everybody, Looking for death or burial of Arthur Jack Woods (born Elstead, Surrey 1892). On electoral roll in NZ, and mentioned in his mother, Emily Louisa Hoare's will in 1954 as 'pensioner'.  I think he is on the roll until 1957, at least is Arthur Jack Woods in 1957, but after that, I'm not so sure,\.

Emily was the younger sister of my g.grandmother, Kate Eliza Tidy.

Hope someone can help.  Cheers, Junemac  (in Australia)
