England / CLOSED - Pre-1850 death certificates
« on: Sunday 28 March 10 11:48 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

What headings does a per-1850 death certificate have?

Will it have the same information as a modern death certificate?

Thanks.

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / COMPLETED - Foxy Lady needs defoxing!
« on: Wednesday 24 March 10 10:51 GMT (UK)  »
This old photo has quite bad foxing which is beyond my photo expertise to overcome.

I'm aware that one can ruin a photo by attempting to remove the foxing by chemicals, so would really appreciate expert help to retouch this digital image such that I can get a decent print.

Thanks in advance.

« on: Wednesday 24 March 10 10:26 GMT (UK)  »
I can't seem to find the actual date the 1911 census was taken in Nova Scotia.

(http://www.generations.on.ca/genealogy/canadian-census.htm covers the earlier censuses )

Help appreciated.
Thanks.

Armed Forces / 1881 - Military in Dublin
« on: Thursday 18 March 10 23:23 GMT (UK)  »
The 47th [Lancashire] Regiment of Foot was in Dublin, Ireland in 1881.
Is there any way I can find a list of other ranks serving with the Regt at that time?

Thanks.

Canada Lookup Requests Completed / COMPLETED - Help finding birth in 1914
« on: Thursday 18 March 10 22:59 GMT (UK)  »
The birth I'm looking for is that for Margaret (or Marjorie) VALLETT ( or soundalike) in 1914 +/- 1 year.
Her family were in Amherst, Nova Scotia in 1911 and 1919, but may have been elsewhere when Margaret was born.

(The family, with Margaret aged 5, returned to England in March 1919 and the passenger list records her as born Nova Scotia, but that may simply be where they last resided.)

Thanks.

World War Two / Help with RAF photo
« on: Sunday 07 March 10 17:37 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
Attached are photos of what appears to be a sword handing-over ceremony, in Burma.

It was found in my father's possessions and was probably taken when he served with the RAF in Burma during WW2.

Can anyone help with information on the participants and/or occasion?
Thanks.
