Technical Help / Rootschat Search - is there a problem?
« on: Thursday 10 February 05 15:09 GMT (UK)  »
Probably something a newcomer is doing wrong!!  However, whenever I try to do a search, after I enter the search term and hit 'search' I get the the all to familiar 'This page cannot be displayed' error.  I've done the 'cookie check' which is OK.

I suspect it's something in my set up as I also have the same problem with FreeBMD.

Any ideas?

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Salford Census pre-1861 - TWEMLOW
« on: Thursday 10 February 05 12:10 GMT (UK)  »
I have traced Richard TWEMLOW (b. ca. 1812 in Salford) back through successive Censuses from 1901 to 1861.

In 1861 he was resident at 52 Cross Lane, Salford with wife Elizabeth (nee ROTHWELL, b. ca. 1807 in Bolton) and daughter Mary (b. ca. 1841 in Pendleton).  His occupation was given as 'Lancashire County Court High Bailiff' and I also know that in 1847 he was a Barrister's Clerk.

Their son, another Richard TWEMLOW (b. 18 Dec 1847 at 27 Cross Lane, Salford) was a Boarder at Strawberry House, Brunswick Road Academy, Salford in 1861.

The family had close connections with Pendleton and were active members of the New Brunswick Chapel where Richard (1812) was Sunday School Superintendent for a number of years.

There is yet another Richard Twemlow (DoB unknown) who married Elizabeth MORETON at Manchester Cathedral on 29 Apr 1806.  I believe he is the father of Richard (1812) and his sister Elizabeth (b. ca. 1816 in Pendleton);  certainly I know from the 2nd Marriage certificate of Richard (1812) that his father was a Richard who, in 1883, was listed as 'Lawyer's Clerk', deceased.

Any additional information on any of these Twemlow's, or indeed any other Twemlow's in Salford (particularly Pendleton) in the early 19th Century most gratefully received!

Many thanks.
