Hello, I am researching my ggg grandfather James Strachan from Leith, Midlothian, Scotland, I do not have his exact date of birth, but he would have been born around 1760 in Leith or Edinburgh. The only information I can find on him was on his certificate of his marriage in St.Cuthberts  Edinburgh, it stated that he was Clerk of Captain on His Majesty's War Ship "The Alfred" in 1778. I have tried to find his navy records, with no luck. He died in 1805 and at time of death he was a director of customs house in Leith,  Midlothian, Scotland.
Any information or advice on how to find my ggg grandfathers naval records would be greatly appreciated, many thanks

Kincardineshire / Moir / Banchory Ternan 1638 to 1864
« on: Monday 25 June 12 22:05 BST (UK)  »
I have researched my family tree and have found my Moir family back to Alexander Moir who married Margaret Coutes in 1652.
My great grandmother was Francis Moir (born 1864 banchory ternan) who was the daughter of Duncan William Davidson Moir and Elizabeth Craven
I have traced all my Moir family through scotlands people site.
Almost all of my Moir family were born in Banchory Ternan and I would like to visit and my ancestors graves if I can find them.
Can anyone give me information as to where they might be buried in Banchory Ternan ?
