Ireland / Civil Death Cert - age recorded

I was wondering how reliable are the ages recorded on death certs? I'm trying to get my gg-grandmothers birth year and according to the death cert in 1879 she was 69 when she died. The problem with this is that would make her 45 when she married and 54 when the youngest of her 6 children was born. Not impossible I know, but pretty unlikely.

Also, theres the fact that I can't find a birth in her parish to fit that date, whereas if her age was 59, not 69 when she died then I have a birth record for her and her marriage age etc makes more sense. Her fathers name doesn't appear on her marriage cert so that certainly doesn't help matters!

World War Two / US WW II Enlistment Record

Hi all,

I came across an enlistment record for someone who could be a granduncle of mine on ancestry and was wondering if there is anyway of finding out more? If it is the right man (and the dates, residence and place of birth do seem to tally), he seems to have completly lost contact with his family from what my mother has told me and so nobody can confirm for me if he did indeed serve in the army or not.

I wan't expecting to have to try and trace any military records and haven't a clue even where to start, so any help would be much appreciated!
