Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Handwriting on a military record
« on: Monday 22 November 21 07:06 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I'm wondering if anyone can decipher this for me. It's an ancestor of mine. The entry before these lines was for good conduct in 1864. Now it looks like he's in prison. I read that first line as "Prisoner previous to trial". It's the next line that I'm struggling to decipher. Any help that anyone can give would be much appreciated.

Hi

Can someone please help me with this photo? I've scanned it but because of the paper it's printed on it's blurry. I'm happy for it to remain in the sepia tones.

Photo is from 1956 and taken in Burwood NSW Australia.

Armagh / Annacramph marriage
« on: Tuesday 02 September 14 09:26 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I've noticed in another posting someone was helped with information about a marriage in Annacramph so I'm hoping someone can help me with my query. I have an ancestor, Edward McKendra who had 2 wives (not at the same time) and I have never been able to find any record of his marriages.

Edward's first wife was Ellen English. They would have married sometime between 1835 - 1842. I am pretty sure the marriage would have occurred in a RC church. He was born in Annacramph so I am hoping this is where he married his first wife.

Edward's parents were Edward and Jane McKendra (as taken from his death certificate). I would also be delighted if anyone could give me some information about his parents.

Armagh / COMPLETED - Town in Armagh
« on: Friday 29 August 14 08:42 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I have a hand written record showing a birth place in Co. Armagh. I have worked out the town name before and I am pretty sure i found it on modern day maps but now I've forgotten the name. The town name looks like Anniecrump but I've been searching for this name recently in Google and google does not recognise it.

Can someone please help me with the correct town name and spelling?

Other Countries / Siegels of Glasgow 1892 - c.1920
« on: Wednesday 22 August 12 03:37 BST (UK)  »
I'm trying to find out what happened to Henry Siegel, Lina (Carolina?) Siegel and Wilhelmina Bosebeck nee Siegel. They were all born in Germany but moved to Glasgow in 1892 with their parents. All the children were under 13 years of age when they moved to Glasgow. I do not know what happened to them when the First World War broke out.

If any of their descendants read this I would love to hear from you. I am a grandchild of their Glasgow-born sister.

Europe / Germany - Births Deaths and Marriages
« on: Saturday 07 January 12 09:39 GMT (UK)  »
I'm wondering if there  is a site where I can search for German Births Marriages and Deaths.

I'm looking for the death of Elisabeth Siegel. Before her marriage her surmname was Hausser. I'm not sure if this is her maiden surname, it may be a surname from a prior marriage.  Her death would have occurred post 1920.

The Common Room / Deportation lists
« on: Thursday 08 December 11 12:37 GMT (UK)  »
A few of my ancestors were deported from the UK to Germany after WWI.  Are the lists of those who were deported available online?

This is a picture of my grandmother and 2 of her brothers. I'd love it if someone could have a try at restoring it. Also I'd like some thoughts on how old the subjects are, especially the two brothers.
