Essex Lookup Requests / John Hoy: Magdalen Laver Baptism Look-up about 1812
« on: Monday 15 June 20 16:31 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone have access to the original images of the Magdalen Laver baptisms?

We have been looking for a baptism for John Hoy in Magdalen Laver around 1812. We have looked on www.familysearch.org, but there is a gap in the images between 1808-1812 when we believe John Hoy was baptised.

He later went to marry Mary Guy. There is one baptism which comes up in 1813 for a John Hoy, but this is mis-transcribed and is actually for a John Aley (with parents David and Sarah), who had other children around that time.

We believe John's parents are John and Mary Hoy, nee Houchin who were married at Magdalen Laver 6/3/1812. It is just possible that John could be baptised as Houchin, not Hoy, if he was born before the marriage.

Many thanks,

Sarah

Essex Lookup Requests / Sarah Perry birth c.1814 Fyfield/Beauchamp Roding
« on: Monday 16 March 20 14:05 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone have access to any birth/baptism records for Beauchamp Roding or Fyfield? I am trying to find the parents of Sarah Perry, born c. 1814 according to the 1861 and 1871 censuses. She married firstly James Brown and then Joseph Clark. Her marriage certificates say that her father was called William Perry and her daughters' birth certificates give her maiden name as Perry but we have been unable to locate her birth. We thought her parents were William and Letitia Perry, because she is living almost next door to them in 1861 and 1871. However, they had a daughter six years later, also called Sarah, which seems peculiar and all their other children have christening records. Can anyone help, please?!

Occupation Interests / Jesuit brother
« on: Thursday 05 November 09 19:39 GMT (UK)  »
My great uncle Frank Catt fought in WW1, then joined the Jesuit Brotherhood in France, probably in the Lyon area. He was there until WW2 when they fled from the Gestapo and ended up in a mission in Africa, where he almost certainly died. Can anyone advise as to how we might find out any more about his life with the Jesuits and whether they may hold any accessible records on him?

Thanks,

Sarah and Jenny

US Lookup Requests / Dufour Family - New York Immigration
« on: Sunday 01 November 09 18:40 GMT (UK)  »
Please could someone with a US or Worldwide Ancestry subscription look up the following family for me?

Alexander Vernier Dufour b.1831 London
Sarah Ann Dufour b. 1825 Brighton
Sarah Marguerite Dufour b. 1857 Ramsgate, Kent
Isaac Grenville Dufour b. 1860 Brighton
Alice Ellen Grenville Dufour b. 1861 Brighton

We think the family emigrated between 1865 and 1871. We know that Isaac was naturalised as a US citizen in 1892 in New York. If you find them, any info would be very gratefully received.

Many thanks,

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Elizabeth Poole, Westminster
« on: Saturday 01 August 09 18:08 BST (UK)  »
Please can someone look up the birth of Elizabeth Poole born to John Poole and Ann, nee Kent. Judging from Elizabeth's death certificate, she was born about 1842, probably in Westminster, her parents having married in January 1840.

We have already sent for two certificates, both wrong, being St. James Westminster, March Q 1841, vol. 1, p. 89 and St. Margaret's, Westminster, June Q 1842, vol. 1, p. 436.

We have three remaining possibles:

St. James Westminster, Dec Q 1839, vol. 1, p. 95 (before her parents marriage).

Westminster, March Q 1841, vol. 1, p.377 (Listed as Elizabeth Eliza)

Westminster, June Q 1844, vol. 1, p.420 (Listed as Elizabeth Ann)

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks,

Sarah and Jenny

Wiltshire Completed Lookup Requests / BEAMS - Everleigh, Wilts
« on: Monday 22 June 09 19:13 BST (UK)  »
Please could someone have a look at the Parish Records for Everleigh and see if there are any Beams or Kingsman births or burials from 1650-1730? We have a marriage at Everleigh in 1719, between Edward Beams and Ann Kingsman. We think Ann came from Rushall, but we have no idea where Edward was born. All Edward and Ann's children were born in Collingbourne Kingston, but we think they may have had an Edward first, possibly at Everleigh or possibly Ann gave birth to Edward before she was married.

Many thanks,

Sarah and Jenny
