Europe / Help with translating a German birth certificate please
« on: Friday 15 March 19 18:00 GMT (UK)  »
I have a copy of a birth certificate that I believe relates to Emilie Anna Gerda Kliszcz born on the 12/6/1922 in Berlin. Could anyone translate / confirm this is correct and is the mother & fathers name mentioned anywhere. I am trying to find out about her birth parents as she was adopted in 1933 by a Josef Breuer and never saw her parents again. Given the situation in Prussia in 1932 I fear that her parents may not have survived. Would the surname Kliszcz be of Polish ancestry?
Any help would be appreciated, many thanks Jac

Lancashire / Looking for Photographs - Piccadilly Christmas Parade late 60's early 70's
« on: Wednesday 27 January 16 19:09 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I have been asked by a good friend who knows my interest in genealogy / family history if I could try to find some photographs for him.

The photographs are of the Lewis’s Christmas celebrations in Piccadilly, Manchester. My friend owned & drove the famous "Independent “ Mail Coach & 4 horses during the Christmas parade. He thinks it was probably 1969, 1970 or 1971. He says that it was a wonderful occasion with Father Christmas, elves etc & that the crowds were huge. He is making up a collage of photographs of his life but unfortunately he has no photographs of this event & would dearly love to obtain some of this very memorable event in his life.

Can anyone help,

Many thanks,

Jac

New Zealand Completed Requests / Tracing the family of a New Zealand WW2 Pilot
« on: Sunday 30 June 13 15:35 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

On behalf of a friend I am trying to trace the descendants of Pilot Owen Lauden of the New Zealand Air Force who was stationed in England during WW2. We think that he survived the war but died young. He had a sister Rona Lauden who's married name is Wilson.

Their father was J F (Fred) Lauden a famous  photographer from Hamiltion & Tauranga. The 1956 NZ Heath Stamps were designed from a photograph taken from by him of his grand children Graeme & Peter Wilson. This photograph was published in The Auckland Weekly News.

Rona & family were living in Tauranga, New Zealand.

I am eager to make contact with Graeme Wilson &/or Peter Wilson or any relative or friend that would know their whereabouts.

The reason for this is that during WW2 Owen Lauden & his friend Peter Price (who died in action) stayed with my friend's father in Nantwich, Cheshire, England. Owen's father J F (Fred) Lauder corresponded frequently sending letters & photographs etc that my friend now has in his possession & would like to pass on to the family if they can be found.

I would also be interested to hear from the family of Peter Price.

Any suggestions on how to go about this mammoth task would be gratefully received.

Many thanks & best regards,

Jacqui Orton

World War One / Uniform ID WW1
« on: Thursday 16 September 10 12:44 BST (UK)  »
Hi there,

Any chance that anyone can identify the uniform on Frank Corrin, on the right of the photo? There are two possible record cards. I think that it is likely that he was in the Royal Field Artillery because his brother was in that regiment

Also I have a postcard sent to his brother Gunner Walter Corrin on 29th September 1916, Could anyone please decipher the address to find out where he might have been in France at that time?

30th D.A.C ?
No 2 Sec (That must be No 2 Section)
RFA (That must be Royal Field Artillery)
B.E.7 ?
France

Thanks, Jac

Thanks

World War One / Trying to find info on Pte James McQuarrie, Ayrshire Yeomanry
« on: Saturday 27 December 08 12:25 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
I'm not sure how to go about this but a WW1 Victory medal has been handed down by the family and I am trying to make a connection without success. He is Pte James McQuarrie No 1856 of the Ayrshire Yeomanry. His date/place of birth would be useful so I thought that this might be on his war record. I have managed to find his medal card & an index to war deaths that state that he died in 1915. It gives a volume & page but I don't know where to find that. I am now stuck. Any advise would be gratefully received.
Thanks, Jac

World War Two / Army Medical Catagories
« on: Sunday 02 March 08 18:14 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

Is there a list available of the various Army medical catagories and what they meant?

My father in law's army record shows several medical catagories throughout his service eg A1 (which is obvious I suppose), it also mentions B1 & C2.

thanks,

Jac
