The Common Room / Ancestry.ca free access to Canadian Records this week
« on: Tuesday 04 October 22 18:46 BST (UK)  »
I just received an email from Ancestry.ca saying that there is free access to Canadian records until Oct 10.   Happy Canadian Thanksgiving :) :)

Not sure if this offer will work on Ancestry.com, or Ancestry.uk etc, but worth a try??

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Occupation of Robert Christie
« on: Sunday 10 September 17 05:00 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I am having trouble reading the occupation of Robert Christie (the father on this birth record).  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :).  I think it says Book Agent, but I want to be sure.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Martha Who? Welsh Wills online
« on: Wednesday 23 December 15 06:15 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I am trying to read the last name of Martha, daughter of Richard Jones.  Unfortunately, her name is written where the page has split in two!   I can see the first letter of her last name is a B.  I know what I want it to say :) :) :), but I would like some opinions before I go jumping to conclusions.

I am not sure how to post a portion of an image, so I will post the link to the Will at the National Library of Wales.  Martha's name is on the first page.. where the split is.

Yorkshire (North Riding) / Stanwick St. John genealogy information
« on: Saturday 30 April 11 18:19 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

When looking for information about Stanwick St. John, f I found this site:
http://www.communigate.co.uk/ne/stanwick/page3.phtml

According to the information near the bottom of this page, there is a free Excel sheet listing all the graves in the Stanwick St. John cemetery - and there is another free Excel sheet listing marriages in the church.

I followed the instructions for ordering this information by e-mail - with no success.  I did not receive the Excel sheets.  So, I made a second request.  Once again, I received nothing in response to my e-mail.

Has anyone else asked for these sheets and received them?   Is it just me ???

Thanks
