Staffordshire / Which cemetery in Birmingham?
« on: Friday 24 March 23 21:04 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
My ancestor, John Armstrong, died in Feb 1859 in 12 Court? Camden Street in Ladywood-which cemetery is he most likely to have been buried in? I can't find any burial information on Findmypast or Birmingham Burials with his name. Is there anywhere else I could check to find his burial?
Many thanks

Hi,
My ancestor Catherine Armstrong was buried at Witton Cemetery in Jul 1878. She is in 166 48327
She died at Aston Workhouse and is in a common grave, possibly buried with another inmate, Amos Hodgkins who is in 166 48325.
I have found a map of the cemetery and have managed to locate square 166 but I'd love to know exactly where plot 48327 is and if there's a headstone. I doubt it but you never know. I am not from the area but it would be nice to visit. Is there anyone on here who lives nearby that could confirm or anyone that has copies of actual grave plots if they exist? Many thanks

Berkshire / Burials at St Michael's church, Bray

Hi,
Does anyone know how I would find out whether some of my ancestors are listed as buried at the above church? The dates would be 18th century up to mid 19th century. I've had a look on Find a Grave but only 45% of burials have been recorded. Thanks

Hi,
It appears some of my ancestors had connections to "Stutt Green" in Bray-could this be Stud Green?

Hi,
Just wondering if someone can help me with finding my x4 Great Grandfather John Barnet's parents please? The 1841-1861 censuses say he was born in Bray, Berkshire. He moved to Lapworth in Warwickshire and married Mary. His children were George, Mary, Jos, Edward, Sarah Ann, Jane, Chas and Ann all born in the West Midlands.
The only baptism I can find for a John Barnet about 1804 is 6th April 1806 in Clewer village to George and Hannah-does anyone else think they could be his parents?
George appears to be born in 1776 in Bray to Michael and Tamar.

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone can help me find my x4 Great Grandmother on the 1861 and 1871 censuses as I am struggling!
Her name was Catherine Armstrong (nee Costello) born in Ireland in 1806.
In 1851, she was living with her Husband, John born 1798 in Ireland, in Harborne, Staffordshire.

John was buried 23rd Feb 1859 in St Paul's, Birmingham, Warwickshire.
Their children were Elizabeth b. 1838, William b. 1841 and Mary Ann b. 1842.
I have tried looking for the family in 1861 but can't see them, the same for Catherine in 1871.
Catherine died in Aston in 1878. I have tried used Katherine and Kate as spellings and Arms* and I can find nothing!
Can anyone help?

Staffordshire / Sarah Jane Slinn/Lynn help needed please
« on: Saturday 05 June 21 14:07 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I'm sorry to post another thread but I was unable to attach images on my previous thread which can be found here: https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=848972.0

I'm basically trying to find out who Sarah Jane Slinn/Lynn's parents were. She was 29 in 1866 when she married Edward Barnett. I've just received their marriage certificate. I was struggling to find any Sarah Jane LYNN's but found a Sarah Jane SLINN and wondered if it was her. Census entries etc are all on the above link. Note the vicar's handwriting on the certificate when he writes Joseph SLYNN/LYNN and Shoe Maker...is this where the confusion has come from?

Hi,
I'm trying to find out the maiden name and parents of my ancestor Mary Barnett born about 1815 in Marton or possibly Haselor in Warwickshire.
In 1851 she is living with her husband, John Barnet born about 1804 in Bray, Berkshire, in Lapworth with their children Mary, Joseph, Edward, Sarah Ann, Jane and Charles. In 1861 they are still in Lapworth living with Charles and Ann born 1853.

Census details are 1851 Registration District:   Solihull

I have found a few GRO birth entries but I'm not sure if it's the right area?
   BARNETT, CHARLES       YEOMANS
GRO Reference: 1849  D Quarter in SOLIHULL UNION  Volume 16  Page 488

BARNETT, ANNE       YEOMANS
GRO Reference: 1852  S Quarter in SOLIHULL  Volume 06D  Page 387

I'm also confused because the only Edward I can find is this one
   BARNETT, EDWARD       NEWBORNE
GRO Reference: 1843  M Quarter in SOLIHULL UNION  Volume 16  Page 491

Can anyone help clarify Mary's maiden name and place of birth and possibly parents? Thanks
