Subject: Diocesan Archives Update

Dear All,

It has been a while since my last bulletin.

Website
The Diocesan Archives website sdaregisters.co.uk has been offline for a couple of months, unfortunately this shall not be changing. It is looking likely that the website shall be permanently mothballed, this is due to lack of funding.

Online Shop
The Manchester & Lancashire Family History Society have very kindly agreed to take over the production and sales of the Catholic parish register CDs. Their online bookshop can be found at the following link

http://www.mlfhs-shop.co.uk

Follow the link for Registers, and Roman Catholic.

Anybody wanting copies of books, such as the St Bede's College book, will find them now on our Amazon shop.

Lancashire / Talbot Library, Preston
« on: Sunday 08 December 13 12:02 GMT (UK)  »
SAD NEWS FROM THE NORTH WEST. The Bishop of Lancaster has decided that the Talbot Library in Preston, which has been a much-prized repository of Roman Catholic literature and artefacts for more than 20 years, is to close on December 31st. The loss will be greatly felt by many people researching Catholic history and by students from the nearby University of Central Lancashire. It also has a significant collection of Irish material.  Because the annual Christmas closure had already been scheduled, the Library will be effectively closed from FRIDAY DECEMBER 13th.

Sad news indeed

Lancashire / 28 Falkner Street, Liverpool, 1945
« on: Sunday 03 November 13 20:33 GMT (UK)  »
I have a relative who gives her place of "residence at time of marriage" as 28 Falkner Street, Liverpool 8, on her marriage certificate in January 1945

Please, can anyone tell me if this was a private home, or some sort of institution at that date?
