The Common Room / Sarah Livingstone / Livingston
« on: Monday 15 April 24 21:59 BST (UK)  »
Leopold Lowenstein was born about 1849 in  Germany. In July 1869 he married Sarah Jones in Wrexham Parish Church. He was a glazier.
Sarahs father was Richard Jones a carpenter.
1871 Leopold Livingstone and Sarah b 1846 Ruabon are in Broughton Wrexham with 6 year old Janet Jones, daughter.
In 1874 Leopold Livingstone put a notice in the Wrexham Advertiser stating he won't be responsible for his wife Sarah's debts
In 1879 Leopold Livingstone married Harriet Bennett in Chorlton. They had 3 sons 1880, 1882 and 1883 b Wrexham mmn Bennett.
In 1881 they are living in Broughton.

In 1891 Harriet took Leopold to court.

The defendant was Leopold Livingstone, glazier, of Pentre Broughton, who was summoned by Harriet Livingstone, or Bennett. in respect of three children.
The facts of the case showed that the defendant and plaintiff were married on May 10th, 1879, and had lived together ever since, while there had been born three children.
The first witness, however, who was called was Sarah Livingstone, who said she had been married to the defendant on July 14th 1868 in the Parish Church at Wrexham. She had lived with the defendant until 1874, and had not seen him until two or three years ago.

Harriet and Leopold stayed together.
I am trying to find Sarah in 1881 and later census records. Did they have children.

There are these born Chorlton. I can't find them in census or any baptisms. Leopold and Harriett married in Chorlton.
Agnes isn't with Leopold and Sarah in 1871.
LIVINGSTON, AGNES mmn    JONES  GRO Reference: 1869  J Quarter in CHORLTON
LIVINGSTON, MARY  JANE mmn  JONES  GRO Reference: 1871  D Quarter in CHORLTON

Can anyone trace Agnes and Mary Jane, and where was Sarah after 1871.
Were they Sarah's daughters.
I'm not finding another Jones / Livingstone marriage.

The Common Room / No images on Ancestry
« on: Sunday 14 April 24 11:10 BST (UK)  »
There is a post on RC asking for help about a word from a baptism.
I asked for the details so we could look for ourselves.
The image was posted so we could see, it was the original image from FindMyPast.
When I checked it on Ancestry  a  text only result  was given and the word in question wasn`t there and it really was quite important.
On checking other Cheshire PRs no original images are there.
I checked other counties and some do have images but some don`t.
Am I not searching correctly or is there a reason they are not shown.
I fail to see why FindMyPast gives them when Ancestry doesn`t.

Michael Finn 73 was buried in Wrexham in 1943.
His abode in the register is The Lodge Caersws.

The Common Room / James / Jim Gee. Help please.
« on: Saturday 03 February 24 15:33 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking at James Gee. In a Wrexham newspaper Supplement of 1907 he is the late Jim  Gee,  a Wrexham Character.
I only find him in 1871 Wrexham census.
James Gee 35 militia man b Wrexham
Wife Ann 38. Children William,  Mary,  Catherine and Margaret.
Catherine turns up in Salford in 1881, William in Bootle , but he comes back to Wales in Llangollen later.

1901 Wrexham possibly has Ann 64 a widow with daughter Mary.

No sign of James anywhere.  He is mentioned in Welsh Newspapers in 1870s and 1880s and is in Wrexham.
He is a Liberal supporter.

Can anyone help.

« on: Saturday 20 January 24 14:39 GMT (UK)  »
I  have a Welsh lady who went to Silverdale Colorado in 1891, she died there in 1892.
I know enough about her life but am wondering how she and her gold miner husband would have got there from UK.
Where would they have sailed to etc.
Thanks
