World War One / Canadian Expeditionary Force medical records
« on: Thursday 14 July 11 19:34 BST (UK)  »
Hello all:  I have just rec'd my grandfather's WW1 file from the Library and Archives here in Canada.  He fought with the Canadian Expeditionary Force and was seriously wounded.

What I am trying to figure out are some of the terms used on his Casualty form and medical case sheet.

Is there anyone who has any experience with these documents?  One term that keeps appearing is T.O.S in reference to the various hospitals he was transferred to.  There is also a term I CORD in reference to the same thing.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Europe / Erl family/Germany
« on: Tuesday 21 June 11 18:18 BST (UK)  »
Hello all;  Is there anyone out there researching the Erl family?  They are my husband's family and my brick wall.  The last relative I have any info on is Ignatz Erl from Waldsassen, b. 1.2.1880 and d. 15.1.1949.

Ignatz was a glassmaker who travelled around Germany teaching the apprentices at the glass factories.  He was married twice - one of the wives was called Sabine.

I would love to hear from anyone researching this family or the Bavarian region.

Thanks  :)

Judy

Europe / Erl-Schiffl families from Germany
« on: Thursday 19 May 11 20:35 BST (UK)  »
Hello all:  I am looking for any information at all on the Erl and Schiffl families from Bavaria.  Both families now reside on Waldsassen and Hof.

One of the Erl family's patriarchs was a teaching glass maker so the family travelled a lot.  I have been told that Regensberg may be the place to start looking for records.  Has anyone had experience with this district - just wondering the best way to go about starting this search.  Also,  is it true that only direct relatives can request marriage or death certificates?

Thanks for the help!!

Judy
