Hi
I know my grandfather should have had two other siblings that died according to 1911 census and so I began looking for them. His parents were maried 1885 at Register Office, Llanrwst indicating to me that they had to get married(?).
Inviting comments on this please - why get married in a register office?
I have found one of the siblings Jane Ann Griffiths b. Dolwyddelan 1890 d. Holyhead 1892.
I suspect that as my great aunt Ellen Griffiths was b. Festiniog 1887 and only Jane and Ellen were listed as the children of the family in 1891 census (6 Gilbert St Holyhead) that the missing child was born 1885-1887.
I do suspect one likely option from free bmd, born and died 1885-1887 aged very young 0-3 probably but need a search of the registers to prove parents William Griffiths and Catherine 'Kate' Griffiths nee Roberts.
Also the infant may be buried Dolwyddelan or Holyhead not sure which (father worked on railways), could also be buried Eglwysbach (fathers birthplace) or Maentwrog (mothers birthplace) or Festiniog (where they lived 1887 when Ellen was born).
It casts a wide net but I need to eliminate Dolwyddelan first I think.
Anyone got a Jane Catherine Griffiths bd Dolwyddelan (Llanrwst district) as she seems to be a possible from bmd? What do you think??? I could do with some ideas on this one please.
I have 4 of the 5 children, 3 of them lived longer lives but need the missing one.
I might have to pay the town clerk of Holyhead to see if Jane Ann Griffiths is buried there 1892.
regards Gareth
