Looking for any information on this family..
I can pick up  James Johnstone in 1859 , Schnapper Point, Mornington, Victoria. Australia (possibly a Merchant Seaman and jumped ship for the goldfields sometime pre 1959) when he Married Ann(ie) Irons sometimes called Hirons, Annie's father owqned Brickworks at Mornington.. the family then came to New Zealand in 1864 with the Waikato Militia.
James also used James Lovett Johnstone or James McGhurr? Johnstone

James has his birth place on Marriage Certificate as Romsey, Hampshire and on his Death Certificate Kirkcaldy, Scotland.
He names his parents as Joseph Young Johnstone and always has his mother as Margaret nee Lovett
I have been unable to track James life before 1859 and would appreciate any help. James was known in NZ as being untruthful and talk of a remittance man...
thank you
Sue

Hi
I am looking for any information on Elizabeth PRICE who came to Australia as a Convict on the Surrey in 1840. She married Thomas Page in 1844 and when pardoned they had the Lisence during the mid 1850's to mid 1860's of The Steam Engine Inn. I am trying to find her birth family in either Birmingham or Wales. There is no information on the Convict records other than native of Birmingham. She is the sister of my Great Great Grandmother Eliza Foulkes (note the different maiden names). Her birth date listed as 1820 and she died 1899. Eliza Foulkes (Elizabeth's sister) married Edward Land in Birmingham in 1835 and this family immigrated to New South Wales in 1858 and mentioned in the Ships Manifest that Elizabeth (Eliza) Page was sister of Eliza Land nee Foulkes under the heading of Relations in the Colony.

Eliza Foulkes parents were Margaret nee Humphreys and John Foulkes (possibly died 1822).
John Foulkes  father was Pryce Foulkes.

Any help/ideas much appreciated/
Thank you
Siousann
