Travelling People / Christiana Knowles 1887-1941
« on: Friday 31 December 21 07:20 GMT (UK)  »
Christiana/Christina Knowles has birth/baptism records giving her parents as William Knowles, Hawker of 19 Adelaide St., Lancaster and Ann Aspinall. Maybe someone can help me find more information about William and Ann for whom I can find no BMD nor census details, please? TIA

Warwickshire / Richar Poller or Pollard marries Emma Winters 1871
« on: Friday 27 August 21 15:12 BST (UK)  »
The above couple marry Wednesbury 1871 and there are 7 GRO birth index entries possibly attributable to their children but as yet I can find no trace of Richard or Emma in any subsequent census. None of their children appear in any census before 1901 as far as I can discover. The "GRO" children are:
Emily Mary Ann Poller q2 1872 Birmingham
Charles Poller q1 1875 Aston
Henry Pollard q3 1876 Birmingham
Cliff Pollard q4 1878 Birmingham
William Pollard q1 1881 Birmingham
Florence Pollard q4 1882 Birmingham
Beatrice Pollard q1 1886 Birmingham

Charles Birmingham marriage record suggests his father died before 28 Nov 1896.

Any pointers towards the 1881 & 1891 census records, please? Richard Poller/Pollard's occupation appears variable (from marriage certs.) and it's possible I might have 2 (or more) families mixed up...
TIA

Lanarkshire / Parents of James Morrison who married Jean Colville 1818 Glasgow?
« on: Saturday 03 April 21 14:52 BST (UK)  »
I wonder if anybody could point me in the right direction to find the parents of James Morrison, please? He & Jean had at least 7 recorded children between 1820 & 1832. Jean is recorded as dying in 1837, aged 36, in Glasgow. All their children were recorded as born/baptised in Gorbals/Glasgow and it seems reasonable to me that James & Jean were also born thereabouts...If I knew James' parents, I might be able to discern his siblings, if any. I've scoured the census returns and not until 1861 do I find details of one of James' & Jean's children, Alexander, coal miner living in Wishaw with family & mother in law. Any ideas much appreciated.

Buckinghamshire / Sarah Walker of Booker or West Wycombe dob c.1826/27
« on: Tuesday 31 March 20 16:38 BST (UK)  »
As far as I can tell a Sarah Walker married a William Martin q4 1846 Wycombe. Although this couple appear to be childless there are several DNA matches that appear to have a Walker connection in and around Buckinghamshire. It would help enormously if I knew Sarah Walker's parents, but I'm clueless and need pointing in the right direction, please. TIA

Westmorland / Richard Varey married Ellen Miller 1845 Ashton/Oldham
« on: Sunday 10 November 19 06:54 GMT (UK)  »
Maybe this should also be posted in Yorkshire, Lancashire...

From the above couple's marriage info it looks like Richard's father was a William Varey. Does anyone know who might be his mother, please? Any dates/places/info for William & his wife would be much appreciated.

Ellen is traceable via census records from 1861 (when she is a widow) onwards and they appear to have had 4 GRO recorded children. There is a death record for a Richard Varey, 1859, Oldham, that appears to fit...but I've yet to find 1841 or 1851 census, such are the variable spellings of Varey.

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / LivingDNA upload to MH?
« on: Saturday 23 March 19 12:01 GMT (UK)  »
Has anyone successfully uploaded their LivingDNA raw data to MyHeritage or have I imagined seeing MH advertising that facility?

Australia / How does one in the UK purchase a NSW 1870s Death record, please?
« on: Tuesday 05 March 19 11:15 GMT (UK)  »
I have the register(ed) entry and have been told that what I need is the detailed record/certificate to correctly & fully identify parents.

I'm happy to buy it and would like to know how this can be done from the UK and likely cost, please?

TIA

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Paddy Waldron's article
« on: Tuesday 29 January 19 13:04 GMT (UK)  »
What happened to your reading glasses, Martin? 29th of January, 2019 is today's date according to my somewhat beleaguered brain and his critique holds good even if originally compiled in 2014. Of course you will have your own opinion on his contributions and hopefully, will soon add your own views, which will be warmly welcomed. Perhaps the URL leading to his Adventure could have been in the op, but it's not too difficult to find imo?

Buckinghamshire / Joseph Clark(e) & Maria Harding - Great Marlow
« on: Tuesday 22 January 19 07:47 GMT (UK)  »
Brickwalled, again! Can anybody point me towards their parents/grandparents, please? They both appear to have been born, married and died in Great Marlow, Joseph 27/3/1805 - 15/11/1878; Maria 18/4/1811 - 4/10/1881, married 20/10/1832. I'd like to be able to identify 3 & 4 ggp if possible...
