Scotland / 1850/1 Archibald Morrison Bap/Bir
« on: Wednesday 10 April 24 16:33 BST (UK)  »
Good afternoon one and all,

I thought it was a simple task but it is far from that so far.

Q1. Has Scotland's People dropped any records off of their site?

Okay Here's the main reason for the thread.

My wife's great Grandfather was Archibald Morrison.
His father was James Morrison.
Mother Mary Morrison.

Here is a timeline of what I know so far:

1850: His parents married on 1 Jun in Kildalton and Oa, Argyll, Scotland
1851: Census [attached]. Parish of Inner High, 8 St Nicholas Street. at home are:
James Morrison Head Mar 49 Gas Lab born: Argyle, Kilmichael
Mary Morrison Wife 28 Born Argyle, Islay
John Son 5 Born Argyle, Islay
Archibald 3m Born Argyle, Islay
Sarah 10 Born Argyle, Islay
Ann 4 Born Argyle, Islay
a Lodger.
Jane Cameron Visitor 22 Born Argyle, Islay
Catherine Morrison 20 Born Argyle, Islay

1861: Census in Glasgow with parents but now Born Glasgow.
1871: census in Glasgow
1881: Census in Glasgow
1883: Archibald Married Margaret Ferguson McLaughlin in 1883, Glasgow [attached]
1891: Census in Glasgow
1901: Census in Glasgow
1923: Archibald died in Glasgow,

I can't find a Archibald Morrison from 1849 - 1852 on Scotland's People with a father of James and Mother Mary.

Q2. Any ideas where and when Archibald was born?

Thanks in advance,

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Confirmation of Event
« on: Thursday 28 March 24 18:21 GMT (UK)  »
Evening all,

I can see that Benjamin Shreeve's baptism on 13 May 1705.

Below is Eliza Shreeve on 22 May 1705.

Am I correct to assume that the entry for Eliza is actually her burial/death.

Also do you think this is a child of Johannes and Elizabetha Shreeve?

Thanks in advance,

Edit:
I am guessing that Conjng is for marriage.

Norfolk / John Palmer 1600
« on: Wednesday 20 March 24 19:58 GMT (UK)  »
Evening all,

I've been looking for John Palmer in Great Yarmouth c.1600.
I found this on FamilySearch.
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:J3XT-9GS

Scrolling though the records I've got to 1600 and July.
Firstly it says the 2nd
And I cannot make out whether John is listed.
May just be my tired eyes.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

I have this entry for a baptism I think I have managed to get most of it.

The 29th January 1786 Baptised Margaret Julia
Phillip and Maria Murray ..... no idea of the rest.

To me (and this is  guess) the other names are God Parents.
Patrick Furer
Richard Scanlon
Sarah Bolger

Priest Dan Gaffney

Did I get much right ?

Thanks in advance,

London and Middlesex / Quinlan: The Problems finding William
« on: Tuesday 30 January 24 14:30 GMT (UK)  »
Afternoon all,

I am looking to find William Quinlan on the 1841 Census.

This is a timeline I know from various sources:

c.1813-16 - William Quinlan born son of Thomas Quinlan (a labourer) probably in Ireland
08-10-1837 Marriage to Mary Mitchell St Giles in the East, Middlesex, England. (Mary was the daughter of Francis Mitchell (a labourer) from Ireland).
27-Aug1938 - Daughter Mary Ann Quinlan born
Further children in 1841 1844, 1848.
04-03-1849 William Quinlan died St Giles in the Fields, Middlesex, England.

William is not on the 1841 that I have found (Freecensus, Ancestry, FindMyPast).
I am trying to locate him.

I know Mary Quinlan is on the 1851 Census and her birth place is Ireland.

Can anyone assist in locating William on the 1841 census please?

Thanks in advance,

England / Confused About a Burial
« on: Sunday 28 January 24 08:56 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,

Please forgive me for being a bit vague and/or disjointed with this post.

My Grandmother Ottilie Kane died in the UK (London) in 1966 (on her 50th birthday no less).
She was buried on 29th March 1965
She was born in in 1915 in Austria.

She was buried in Camberwell New Cemetery, Brenchley Gardens.
I have the plot details.

This is were it gets a bit strange.

Her Husband John Kane is NOT buried with her. He died in 1988.

In the grave according to find a grave website is a Norina Kane.
It appears she was buried 29th October 1987

I have looked on Ancestry and FreeBMD, FindMyPast for any marriage between Norina and John but I cannot find one.
It appears from the GRO certificate index that Norina was born in 1915 (same as my Grandmonther).

I am confuzzled ... Any suggestions please?

Thanks in advance,

Family History Programs, Tree Organisation, Presentation / File Deletion Advice Request
« on: Saturday 13 January 24 21:24 GMT (UK)  »
Evening All,
I'm about to head to bed but wanted to ask this before I go.
I have FTMv19 now.
I also have a load of files in the FTM folder in the My Documents folder of my laptop.
I have four main trees I want to keep.
ALL the files in the FTM folder have been backed up using FTMv19.

I want to clear out all the old redundant files in the FTM folder. Just delete them all out.

So:
Q1 - You all think this is a good idea?
Q2. If I delete ALL the files the in FTM folder I can just reinstate them from the back ups on a spare Hard Drive I have back up to?
Q3 - When I restore the back up will that also bring in all the images in the media folder too ?
Q4 - I currently have a full copy on my laptop, a spare HDD and I am about to upload (if I clear these all out) to a cloud drive as well) - Any other ideas worth considering?

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me.
