The Common Room / FindMyPast Subscription Renewal
« on: Friday 19 January 24 14:29 GMT (UK)  »
I have had a bit of a shock at this years subscription price for Find My Past, the Pro package has gone up to £184.99. They are offering a 15% reduction for auto renew, but that still seems a lot more than I have paid before. Has anyone else renewed recently ?

I would be very grateful for any improvements that can be made to the quality of this wedding photograph, particularly the fading on the left top, to tone down the brightness of the lady's white blouse sitting next to the bride & also the baby sitting on his mum's knee

World War Two / William Smith Prisoner of War WW2
« on: Sunday 12 November 23 14:26 GMT (UK)  »
I had hoped to find some information on Fold 3 as it is Free this weekend, but not having much luck. Please could I ask for help in finding information for William Smith he was a Private in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers. I have found two newspaper articles stating William had been reported to be a prisoner of war. The first article dated 27/6/1940 states William's wife Lily had been officially notified Fusilier Private William Smith who had been serving in Norway was missing since 26/5/1940. The second article dated 12/9/1940 states Fusilier Private William Smith of 5 Jubilee Terrace Conway is reported to be a Prisoner of War in Germany. He was in C Company 6th Battalion Royal Welsh Fusiliers.
William's father Thomas Smith died 26/6/1943 & in his Obituary it mentions his son is a prisoner of war. I would be most grateful for any help in finding William's records.

United States of America / Missing Marriage for William & Emaline
« on: Monday 12 June 23 14:31 BST (UK)  »
I'm hoping someone can help find a Marriage between William Henry Hake born 1848 & Emaline Ramer born 1853 of Manchester, York County, Pennsylvania. Their 1st child Bertha was born 1876 Manchester, York County.

William's parents Daniel Hake & Anna Mary Boose & Emaline's parents Jacob Ramer & Cassandra Frey.

This is a second attempt to find this marriage we had no luck last time. I have asked this before on Rootschat but I thought perhaps with new information being added all the time we would be lucky this time.

Aberdeenshire / Adam Cruickshank
« on: Sunday 14 May 23 15:52 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for the Parents of Adam Cruickshank born 3/12/1885 Aberdeen.

He married Maud Hopkins 18/6/1910 Sheerness Kent & on their Marriage Certificate it states Adam's father was David Cruickshank an Iron Moulder.

On Adam's RN Military Records it states he was born St Masher Aberdeen, is this a parish in Aberdeenshire or an actual town, as I can only find a Church with this name?
