Ross & Cromarty / Forbes Family of Millers - Little Lochbroom
« on: Wednesday 28 January 15 03:13 GMT (UK)  »
I'm researching the Forbes who were millers near Ardessie near Little Loch Broom and later near Gairloch by Poolewe. I noticed on a google map of the Little Loch Broom area a place identified as "Forbes P M". It is located east of Eilean Darach Lodge. Would someone be able to explain the origin of the naming of this place and explain what the "P" amd the "M" represent?

Moray (Elginshire) / Seatown in Lossiemouth
« on: Tuesday 08 July 14 16:37 BST (UK)  »
According to the 1881 census my great-grandmother, Margaret  Lamb, lived at 25 Street B. During a visit to Lossiemouth last year, I was told that Street B was Church St. However, I just noticed that in the 1885 Valuation Roll, Margaret Lamb is listed as a tenant at House and Garden, Seatown. On the same page, there are references to Streets B and D in Seatown. Was Church St. located within Seatown? Hopefully someone can clarify this for me. Thanks.

Looking for photos of a Margaret (Lamb) Shand who married a John Shand on November 21, 1885 and died on September 1, 1891 in Lossiemouth. She was born in Monquhitter in 1851. Perhaps a Shand descendant might have one.
