Glamorganshire Lookup Requests / thomas bird 1895
« on: Monday 30 June 08 20:45 BST (UK)  »
i am having great difficulty in tracing a thomas bird born 1895 his father also called thomas bird

thomas bird stated on his marriage certificate in 1932 he was a electrian and his father thomas was deceased, they lived at 309 holton road, barry dock at the time of his marriage
i have found his army records of 1915 and he stated he was a electrician and lived at 4 st david's sq, cwmaman, aberdare, glamorgan and i also found his death certificate in 1953 aged 53 at pontypridd, glamorgan, he stated his father was a boilermaker and i thought i had found a family near by in neath but other memebers on this site adviced me that a tin plate man in the tin works would not have been a boilermaker.
i have looked through the census of 1901 for a thomas bird born 1895 with a father called thomas bird
( boilermaker ) but i have been unsuccesful at finding a family that would fit in with all the records i have ie: marriage, death and army records.

could someone please help me in maybe finding this family in the 1901 census maybe in wales
i did find a family in england west hartlepool, but i cant prove either way if this is the correct line

kindest regards

could anyone please tell me if  a tinman in tinworks in neath, could be interpreted as a boilermaker
i have a wedding certificate that states a father was a boiler maker and i am wondering if i have found the right line as i have found a family living around neath and working in tin works as a tinman/plater, or could this be another type of occupation

Yorkshire (North Riding) / mckie of middlesbrough
« on: Tuesday 06 November 07 11:55 GMT (UK)  »
hello everyone
i am desparate to find a family member in the electorial register
from 1871-1878 living at time of marriage in 1878 at the following address
bolckow street, middlesbrough his name is GEORGE MCKIE
he has stated various ages on the 1881-1901 census which means he must have born around 1847-1850 in scotland but he married in 1878 in middlesbrough and states his father george was a block and mesh maker (deceased)
is there any way someone could please look at that address around that time
as i cannot find him in the 1871 census and thought he may be mentioned in the electorial list and see who he is living with, his occupation seems to iron roller, riverter, or boilers so in other words he worked with iron or steel
i would appreciate any help on this matter as i have been at this research for many years with this man george mckie
