Lancashire / 1851 look up please
« on: Wednesday 14 November 12 10:41 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

Can someone have a look at the image on FindMyPast please for HO107, Piece 2225, Folio 8, Page 9. It is for a Charles Hall, age 21, born 1830, Manchester, living Cornwall Street with Hannah Walley. I can only access the index. By deduction (as he is not transcribed on Ancestry) I have seen the image on Ancestry but it is very poor and can only make out Hannah and with imagination Charles. I know sometimes from past experience some images are better on another site.

I am hoping the names of the other members can be seen, I think 3 daughters.

Many thanks Evie

Lancashire / Parents of Thomas Hall - Completed with thanks
« on: Friday 09 November 12 10:48 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I wonder if anyone is able to help me find the parents of Thomas Hall born Ashton Under Lyne or Staleybridge about 1827. Place of birth changes in the census.

He married Margaret Moffat on the 30th September 1850 at St Mary's Church, Manchester. His father was John Hall, shoemaker. His witnesses were Charles Hall and Barbara Moffat (Margaret's sister).

Unfortunately I can't pin Thomas down in 1841, at the time of marriage Thomas was a clogger. I have him in other census (not yet found him in 1881) beginning with the 1851, HO107, Piece 2225, Folio 202, Page 4. By 1891 he was a widower.

Many Thanks

Durham / St Cuthbert's Durham
« on: Thursday 11 October 12 11:59 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I am rather confused. I have found a baptism on Family Search for a Thomas Booth baptised 28 Jun 1868 at St. Cuthbert, Durham, Durham to Thomae Booth and Elizabethae Wilson. He was born 28 May 1867.

I looked at the BT's and there is no baptism written down. I chose Durham 1863 - 1893. Image 68 is the correct page and it is St Cuthbert but no Thomas. I tried looking on Family Search for a couple of baptisms from that page but nothing coming up in the indexes.

Has anybody any ideas why this should be?

Thank you

Hi

I have been looking at the North Tyneside website and have found a marriage entry which interests me. Robert Booth to Elizabeth Wilson, father's name Hornsby. The year was 1846. It gives a reference of

Register Book, Entry Number: ST.ALB 1, 413

Could anyone tell me which church this would be please?

Many thanks

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Still trying to sort out Joseph Lambert.
« on: Friday 10 August 12 09:47 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I wonder if someone would be so kind to look up a marriage of Joseph Lambert and Harriet C(harlotte) Smith in 1909 at St John Baptist Mexborough. (Yorkshire BMD). The free BMD shows it as being in the June quarter.

Joseph, according to Harriets' will, was actually called John Joseph Lambert who I believe was registered Barnsley district 1884 June quarter. I am trying to find his parents or at least his father's name. If he belongs to the family who I am hoping he does, his siblings Charles Mallam, Richard and Samuel were down as born Elsecar.

Many thanks

Hello

I am having great difficulty locating George in the 1841 and 1851 census. He was baptised on the 28 Nov 1828 at Brompton to parents Benjamin and Tamer (nee Peverley) Stubbs.

Benjamin I believe married 3 times, Tamer being his second wife in 1825 Bolton on Swale. He is living in York in the 1841 census St Saviour York with Hannah nee Daniel. In 1851 at York St Crux. George is not there.

The first time George appears is in 1861 Durham St Giles after marrying Mary Ann Brown in 1854.  Birth place given as Branton or Northallerton in various census. His marriage certificate states his father is Benjamin, a pitman and yet on census 1841, 1851 and 1871 he is a labourer or an agr lab.

George dies in 1891, possibly Spennymoor.

I am wondering am I folowing the correct Benjamin Stubbs as there is a record in the BT's at Rainton Gate of a Martha baptised 14th Jan 1831 to a Benjamin and Tamar, Benjamin is a labourer. I thought he married Hannah Daniels 1829 St Sampson York.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you. Just to add I have had a look at other public trees with this family and no one seems to have George in the 1841 or 1851 census.
