Hi
John Thomas Arnell went to fight in WW1  & in 1918 (10th of June)his wife Mary Jane & daughter Clotilda made a Photo PC. Did wives send PC's to husbands on active duty?
(Our GGF James Robson kept a photo in his wallet & carried it on active service )
WW1 records for John Thomas have been lost & not handed down.  The family was extended on his return  so if he had a war injury it did not deter him from living out his life (d 1956 aged 74)
Many records were lost . Any help appreciated .
Thanks
Bill B
PS Clotilda was b 1907 so her naming is not related to WW1

Durham / Pesky 1921 James Robson & Margaret Ellen 24 Eighton Terrace, Springwell
« on: Friday 07 October 22 16:43 BST (UK)  »
Hi Guys
James Robson was our GGF & his penultimate residence was 24 Eighton Terrace, Springwell.I think the house is still there unlike Springwell Terrace that was cleared. Locals referred to the area as Springwell, even tho it was Wrekinton to many & our dad referred to the area as Gateshead 9 (He was born on Springwell Terrace & remembered a community even tho all he talked about was BlacklocK's Garage.(Too young to go in the Pub on the corner)
James was miner & cycled to a pit in Sunderland 1 or 3......Bit too far ?
On the 1921 I expected  James, Margaret Ellen & her Mother Mary Edgar, Irene, James their son, Joseph L . Guess what? There really is 1 more this time.....No idea as Pat came along in 1928.  Who makes it up to 7?
Cheers Bill B

Durham / John Robson m Maria Jane Wardle. Felling Area 1 Jan 1910 children John & Mona
« on: Thursday 06 October 22 15:48 BST (UK)  »
John was the son of Thomas & Matilda Robson & was b 8 Sept 1883 . (I have not located a birth record but got it from 1939) Lets face it John Robson in Felling & Heworth or Windy Nook is tough.
He died prob 1955-59 but that is also hard to pin point. 1911 shows Maria's brother with the newly weds. By 1921 I found John Junior 1914 & Mona 1918 . 6 are shown at 11,Nursery Lane, Felling. So am I 2 off spring short? Lynda Marion was b 1932 & she lived to be 90 but sadly I never met her.
Any help appreciated to.

Northumberland / Isabella Robson (Ellerington) born 1815
« on: Monday 01 November 21 00:15 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Guys it looks like Isabella living in West Wylam in 1885 at the age of 70 died & was buried 28 Mar 1885 at S. Mary Magdalene, Prudhoe.
Would there be a headstone still there or anything in local newspapers at that time?
Isabella was born at Bywell P + Married John Robson there in 1833
They end up at Fourstones Warden then Park Shields, John was a labourer then a pauper by 1851.
1861 Isabella is a widow & outdoor labourer with a large family.  John Errington was a large farm owner & I guess everyone is moved on & 1871 she is visitor at her daughter's place at Newburn Hall, Lenington?? George & Ann Lishman  1881 West Wylam.
Is West Wylan a district of Prudhoe?
John most likely died in 1856 but there might have been 2 at Park Shields....
Would pauper records survive?
The geographical links are not too bad as people were "moved off the land".
The family were dispursed from West Wylam 1881 Isabella RobsonAge64,Dorothy RobsonAge43,Thomas RobsonAge37'William RobsonAge22'Jane RobsonAge18,Margaret RobsonAge17,Mary RobsonAge14.
Hard to see where Dorothy & Thomas would have gone to after Isabella's death in 1885 with a lot of dependable siblings.

Durham Lookup Requests / Norman Earnest Pinder died 21 Jul 1987 Obit look up request
« on: Wednesday 02 June 21 20:39 BST (UK)  »
Hi The  above Norman Ernest Pinder died 21 Jul 1987 & was cremated in Durham. Not sure why there.
Would there have been an obit in Newcastle Chron? His widow would have been alive & I think she died in Sept 2003 in Gateshead  Mary Elizabeth Pinder (nee Rutter). Finding it hard to track down their children.  There is a family story that a Pinder lives in Turkey & yes you guessed it a Piano Player.
Thanks

« on: Monday 31 May 21 23:42 BST (UK)  »
Hi
In 1939 Our great grandmother had her niece Mary Elizabeth Rutter living at their house on  Long Bank & from what I can remember she was our great aunt's best friend. Dec Q Mary married Norman E Pinder in Gateshead. Norman is a bit of a spanner. He was born 16 July 1919 in Weardale & on his Birth record at 1919 his mother's maiden name is Gowland.....In 1939  Norman was in Weardale with Edward C Pinder & his wife Ellen formerly Dennison & Not Gowland....Edward C married Jan Q 1919
Any ideas? Need to get my thinking cap on. ??? ???
Cheers Bill B
