Lancashire / Unfilmed 1851 Pendleton - Richard Grundy
« on: Tuesday 29 July 08 21:02 BST (UK)  »
Hi Folks,

Whilst it is quiet could anybody see if there is a Richard Grundy, occupation Joiner born in Swinton around 1825 - 9 ish.  He should be in the Pendleton area but may still be in the Worsley/Swinton area.   In the next three census he always stated Swinton as his place of Birth.

I am hoping he has a daughter Mary (Ann) living with him.  Mary does not appear again with him until the 1881 census when she is 30.  However, I suspect he may have knocked a couple of years off her age as he had a young wife aged 39. ::)

Cheers,
Mo

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Photo Dating please
« on: Tuesday 25 March 08 23:05 GMT (UK)  »
Hi All,

First posting on this board, but I often come and have a peak and end up spending a long time here.  Sometimes downloading the photos to practice on.

Anyway, I would appreciate all you experts giving me your opinion of a date please.

Apologies for the quality but it is a copy of a photograph sent to my late mum some years ago.  Not the usual "studio" photo as they still have their pinnies on!

Regards,
Mo

United States of America / James Peak Rich England to US via Canada
« on: Saturday 22 September 07 19:46 BST (UK)  »
Hi Folks,

I wonder if someone could do me a quick look up please.

On a well known site is a listing for James Peak Rich and wife Mrs Thomasine Rich, Quebec (should be a son Stanley as well who was born Canada 1887c).  It comes under the heading "Border Crossings from Canada to USA 1895 - 1956".

Would love to know the details of when they left Canada as I no longer have the full access just the U.K. one. I think it would be late 1890`s as I have found them in California in later census.

Kind regards,
Mo

Hi,

I don`t often ask questions, but London is a whole new ball game, could anyone tell me if Smithfield and Holborn were near each other?

My GGG Grandmother has her place of birth a Holborn in the 1851 and Smithfield in the 1861.  How she ended up in Sunny?? Lancashire will probably never be known but she married Elisha Harrison in Burnley, Lancashire on the 1st June, 1823.  Her name is recorded as Ann Woa.  Suspect that she may have been Ann Waugh father Andrew as when one son died she named the next Andrew.   I did find a possible baptism but proving it is another matter.

Mo

Hi,

Can anyone find me a Thomas ENTWIS(T)LE born c.1830 in Church near Accrington, Lancashire.  He married a Mary Bowles in 1852 and gave his residence as HULME.

According to his marriage certificate his father was also called Thomas and they were both Merchants.  The 1861 census in Cheshire has him down as a Cotton Weaver..... except he owned the Cotton Mill.

Thanks,
Mo

Hi,

Could SKS please have a look for Theresa Bedford on the 1841 census, aged about 9 and baptised in Thornhill on 25th December 1831.  Parents were Richard and Elizabeth but one may have died.  By the 1851 she was aged 19 and living with a Man family in Thornhill who may have been relations of her mother.

Many thanks,

Mo
