Derry (Londonderry) / Where to look for emmigration records
« on: Thursday 11 July 13 12:36 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I have posted before looking for a Margaret Mitchell who went to America before 1901.
Have found some more information.  she was born 12th march 1872 in Lackagh Londonderry and emmigrated to america in 1891 , married  ?? Mcdonald in New York about 1891 - 1896.
I have recently  found a Family tree with same information as me but beginning to think it has been copied from mine (if you now what i mean)
Unable to comfirm that the McDonald connection is correct.
Living near Derry I assume she would have left from the port there and that would probably be the Anchor line.
Now that I have the possible year she left,  where could I search records for the shipping company.

Not sure if anyone can help
I have been trying to trace the scottish connection to Hugh Osbourne born 1860 who lived the Mall Ramelton. (from 1901 census.)
Have found his father Hugh born approx 1838 and possible grandfather Hugh born approx 1817. They are said to have come from scotland  Also they may have worked on Castle Grove Estate.
How can I find where in Scotland they came from.    Thanks

Sorry if this sounds confusing ???
looking for gt.gt.aunt ?? mcdonald nee mitchell, who went to america before 1901 but no first name
she would be daughter  Samuel Mitchell and Elizabeth nee Glenn  married 07-06-1861 they had 8 children.
know of Stephen, David glenn, John, William J, Mary Liza and Tilda from the census.
2 siblings not known but have found two possible names  Rebecca Jane and Margaret, but  no date of birth.
I have a hand sewn quilt from this daughter,  made with  american flour bags. would love to put a name to this quilt.
no mention of them in  the 1901 census  so think the dates are between 1861 - 1883.
