United States of America / DISAPPEARED AFTER 1880 CENSUS
« on: Thursday 11 April 24 21:02 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for a KATE SCHLITZER, born 1864-65 in Pottsville, PA., to John and Catharine Schlitzer.  She appears in the 1870 and 1880 census and then poof! she's gone, at least to my research.  There have been about 6 different ways to spell the surname but after about 10 children, the common spelling seems to be Schlitzer.  I have supposed that instead of KATE, she could've been Kathryn or something similar.  I have looked to see if she married, died, migrated somewhere but all to no avail.  Would someone please point me in the right direction?  I would really appreciate it.

Yorkshire (East Riding & York) / Old English Occupation
« on: Friday 22 March 24 14:07 GMT (UK)  »
Hi:   In the 1901 census, my relative is listed as "Silver Filler" White
I have checked back through the census to see similar occupations, and the word White is entered.  I have tried to find what the "White" signifies, but no success.
Can anyone please help me with this?  Thanks!  Robang

Lincolnshire / Mary MITCHELL migration
« on: Saturday 13 January 24 15:41 GMT (UK)  »
Mary Mitchell was born in Boston, Lincolnshire in 1837.  She migrated to Queensland Australia circa 1848.  Shortly after, she married Thomas Levi Harrison in Brisbane.
From her obituary, I believe she came on the ship, Jonn Fielding, but I can find no record.
I would appreciate any direction as to where I can find records, especially on her parents, who  migrated with her.
Thanks very much.  Robang

Ross & Cromarty / Johanna KER
« on: Monday 15 May 23 21:41 BST (UK)  »
I have been researching JOHANNA KER, twin sister to William Munro Ker, born or baptized on 3 August 1823 in Alness, Scotland.  I have researched ScotlandsPeople and can find her baptismal record but from that point on, nothing.  William is not a problem, just Johanna.  I have checked Canadian records because that's where her brother migrated to, thinking she may have gone with him, but nothing.
Would love to get direction on her possible marriage, and date of death whether in Scotland or elsewhere.   Parents are Henry "Harry" Ker/Kerr and Margaret Munro.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Essex / EMMA BAKER
« on: Saturday 21 January 23 14:29 GMT (UK)  »
Morning:   My grandaunt, Emma Baker, was born in West Ham, Essex in or around August 1869, to parents, James Robert Baker and Eliza Frances Parsons.  I have found her name in the 1871 and 1881 census, but after that time, nothing.
Could someone please point me in the right direction to find whether or not she married, or even if she passed away.  Found several Emma Baker's but I'm thinking it may be a common name.
Thanks for any help!

Australia / Shipping Manifests Sought - RASMUS MADSEN to Australia
« on: Saturday 14 March 20 21:30 GMT (UK)  »
I am researching Rasmus Madson (Madsen) and Maren Lindholm who married in the United States and migrated to Australia, finally settling in Taabinga Kingaroy.
Both were born in Denmark but married in the United States before migrating to Australia.
Three children, Laura, Jeff and Mary Christina were born in America.  The other children were born in Queensland.
I can find no record of their migration either on the Australian end or the United States manifests, in or around the year 1892-4.
Once the family settled in Queensland, I have plenty of data re births, deaths and marriages, and have obits from newspapers etc.
I cannot, however, find any record of ships' manifests bringing them to Australia.
Any direction will be greatly appreciated.

United States of America / RASMUS MADSON and wife, MAREN LINDHOLM
« on: Saturday 14 March 20 14:54 GMT (UK)  »
I am researching Rasmus Madson (Madsen) and Maren Lindholm who married in the United States and migrated to Queensland, finally settling in Taabinga Kingaroy.
Both were born in Denmark and moved to the States and I have varying possible residence locations of Illinois; also Isle of Wight County, Virginia; Blackstone Livington County and New York, but nothing definitive.
Three children, Laura, Jeff and Mary Christina were born in the United States.  I can find absolutely no record of their birth anywhere.
I can find no record of their migration either on the Australian end or the United States manifests, in or around the year 1892-4.
Help, please.  I am at my wits end, and I appreciate any help that can be given.  I am especially interested in migration records from United States to Australia.

US Completed Requests / Who is MAVINDA FESSLER
« on: Monday 20 January 20 16:06 GMT (UK)  »
I am researching the family of Francis Fessler who married Laura Seltzer in Pennsylvania.  Their daughter was born on 14 July 1910 showing her name as Mavinda Fessler.  However, the remainder of the family history indicates that a daughter was baptized Pearl Louisa Fessler on 14 September 1910.  I wrote to the Schuylkill County CourtHouse to see if the name had been legally changed from Mavinda to Pearl Louisa, but there is no record.
Does anyone have any idea where I can confirm that Mavinda and Pearl Louisa are one and the same?
Thanks for any help.
