Midlothian / LOOK UP REQUEST - WILLIAM McKINLAY EDMOND from MUSSELBURGH, near EDINBURGH

Can I draw members attention to a story in the Daily Mail yesterday. A Dutch lady, now aged 84 has been leaving flowers on a British Soldiers grave at the CWGC cemetery in Oosterbeek in Holland since she was 9 years old. The soldier was killed in the battle for Arnhem in September 1944, aged 27.

At the end of the article in mentions that family probably don't know that William Edmond is buried at the cemetery.

Having made a few enquiries it would appear that people have already tried to find a link to the family, that his widow re married, adopted two children who have been contacted and knew nothing about him or their mothers first brief marriage.

Surely there has to be someone out there related to this soldier? Is anyone interested in a having a look into this?

Can anyone help me find information on this 'Leggett' family.

The family l believe lived in the Bethnal Green area and all died in the underground tragedy in March 1943.

They are named on the Bethnal Green memorial near the underground station which I have been supporting for some years. The secretary of the Bethnal Green Memorial Trust would like to find relatives of the family.

Benjamin Leggett aged 33,
Rose Leggett aged 31,
And Roy Leggett aged 7.

Can someone see it they find any information on Irving Sanitsky please.

Irving was a crew member of WW2 RAF Halifax bomber which crashed in North Essex U.K. in 1943.
The aircraft came down killing all of the crew on 25th Febraury 1943 at a place called Ardleigh in Essex. This is just outside the U.K.'s oldest recorded town of Colchester.

Irving was a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force serving in the RAF.

He was the son of Simon and Ida Sanitsky of Fall River, Massachusetts. He was aged 22.

His burial place is The Jewish section of the Norwich cemetery in Norfolk U.K. at grave No. 235

His DOB is 8th May 1920.

On a 6.10.1940 RCAF document it shows his NOK as an uncle called:
Simon Swartz living on Washburn Avenue, Portland, Maine;

His father:
Simon Sanitsky, living on Third Street, Chelsea, Massachusetts;

and his mother Ida Rose living on Walnut Street, Chelsea Massachusetts.

Could someone have a look to see if they can find information on Edward Widgery please.
He was a crew member of a WW2 RAF Halifax bomber which crashed in North Essex in 1943.
The aircraft travelled from Pocklington and came down on 25th February 1943 in Ardleigh, Essex.
He is buried at Oystermouth cemetery Swansea, section N  grave 193, and was aged 35 years old.

He was the son of Albert William and Elizabeth Widgery of Ammanford, Carmarthenshire. And was husband of Iris Mary Widgery of Sketty, Swansea.

Could someone see if they find information on the above person please. I don't have a middle name for him.

John Dudley was a crew member of a crashed WW2 RAF bomber which came down in North Essex in 1943.

I believe he is buried in Titsey St. James churchyard in the S.E.corner.

The aircraft travelled from Pocklington and came down near Ardleigh Essex on 25th February 1943.

John was the son of George William and Grace Dudley of Titsey. He was age 20.

Could anyone have a look to see if they can find information on the above please.

Cyril J.D. Smith was a member of the crew on a WW2 RAF Halifax bomber which crashed in North Essex in 1943. I believe he is buried at Patna old cemetery at grave 149. He was aged 23.
The aircraft travelled from Pocklington and came down on 25th February 1943 near Ardleigh in Essex.

Cyril was the son of Denis Drane Smith and Gladys Matilda Smith. And husband of Mary Blane Smith of Carnshalloch, Patna.

Could someone see if they can find any information on Leonard Herbert please.

This person was a member of WW2 RAF Halifax bomber which crashed in North Essex in 1943.
The aircraft flew from Pocklington and came down on the 25th February 1943 near Ardleigh, Essex.
I believe he is buried at Eltham cemetery in Woolwich at grave 299. He was aged 22.

He was the son of William Walter A Herbert and Louisa Lydia Herbert of welling Kent. And husband of Evelyn Herbert.

Can anyone assist in looking up family of the above please. Thomas Barfoot was a crew member on a WW2 RAF Halifax bomber which crashed in North Essex in 1943.

I believe he is buried at St Leonard's church Birdingbury, Warwickshire. Located 'south of the church.' He was aged 19 years old.

He was the son of Charles and Constance Barfoot of Bidingbury.

Can anyone assist in looking up relatives for the above please. Charles Bray was a Pilot of a WW2 RAF Halifax bomber which crashed in North Essex in 1943. The aircraft came down in a place called Badliss Farm Ardleigh on 25th February 1943.

I believe he is buried at St. Catherines churchyard in Ringshall Suffolk. (Row B) which I am seeking to verify. His age is unknown to me at the moment.

The aircraft was based at Pocklington.
