Durham / Help finding James Reed bap 3 Sep 1826 South Hylton
« on: Thursday 14 September 23 14:26 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone help me to find this ancestor please
James Reed bap 3 Sep 1826 at Sth Hylton

He is with his father John, stepmother Isabella and siblings in the 1841 Cenus
By the 1851  census his father has died and he is living with a half brother William Reed and his family at Hylton Ford. He is a shipwright.
There is a James Reed in Wear St who could be him 1871 but I am not convinced either way.
Not able to find him in 1861
After that I am unable to find him.

Any ideas please

Thank you
Judy

PS Out of interest  I have found his brother John Reed b1824 in the 1861 Census in Chatham Kent where he is working as a Shipwright.
However I can not find his wife Maria Reed b1831 Byker, anywhere in 1861 census either. She was with John in 1860 at Chatham. They have a son registered there. But back in South Hylton in 1861 when  their son died.

The older lady is my 2x Gt Grandmother born 1828. She died in Sunderland in 1906.

Please can anyone give me an approximate date of the photo.

Thank you

I have attached a photo of the Manorial Roll of Hesket-in-the-Forest. I  would like help with transcribing what I think to be the entry of  'John Rumly'

I have cropped it so the writing can be seen in other entries.

Thank you

Cumberland / Rumney family Cumberland or Westmorland
« on: Friday 05 May 23 12:55 BST (UK)  »
Is anyone researching the Rumney Family around the dates 1600 or before to around 1720 either in Cumberland or Westmorland.

I would be grateful to hear from you. I am especially interested in any information from  wills or from the Old Parish Records rather than the Bishops Transcripts.

Thank You

Judy

I am looking through old photos, this one is of my Grandfather William Reed and his father-in-law Abraham Hammond.
Unfortunately I haven't the original and am not able to get another copy so can anyone please bring it into more focus - or is that asking the impossible.

Thank you

Judy

I am researching this Thomas family and there is an article about John Thomas who died at the Welsh Harp in Dowlais in Welsh. Unfortunately :( I can not understand it.

It is on the Free Welsh Newspaper Site
https://newspapers.library.wales/view/3207527/3207528/9/
It is down at the right hand side of that page and think it may continue over onto the next page but not sure.

Someone kindly sent me the following some time ago but I would like the full article as it may give more insight into their lives.

John Thomas, Welsh HArp died 17 Sept 1889 aged 42. Son of Isaac Thomas, formerly of Cymcynach, Abergwesyn (who lives in Hirwaun and is respected by and and a faithful Baptist)/ JT came to Dowlais from Llanwrtyd and Llangamarch about 9 years previously when he was a  tall, fine looking man having spent his early years in agriculture in the Wrtyd lowlands. Then hit by TB

Thank you very much.

These articles are such a good source of family interest especially when they connect people so well like this one.
