Hello,

Something of a wild goose chase possibly.

This gentleman's obituary in 1904 states he spent part of his early life in Canada.   Certainly there are references to "BLAKEY" in Saskatchewan in the early 20th century which may be family related.   However, there is evidence of an Edward BLAKEY, aged 19, arriving in New York aboard the Margaret Evans on 07/08/1862 from England which may fit the profile of a young man destined for Canada.  I wonder ::) ???   He died in Blackburn 30/11/1904.

Could anyone help please with any Canadian references??

Thank You,

Hello,

He married Naomi Ann PAIN on 10/04/1871 in Kingston upon Thames and according to the wedding documentation his occupation was "Soldier".  I have researched all the appropriate indexes, at least those available to me, and have been unable to unearth any service details   Can anyone help please?

Incidentally, he died in 1879 in Portsea, Hampshire (GRO only), with his widow re-marrying sometime later.

Thank you.

Midlothian / Henry DORWOOD, born 1845, Dalkeith (?)
« on: Thursday 28 March 24 15:55 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,

The 1891 Scotland Census (Citation: Parish: Edinburgh St. Cuthberts; ED:62; Page:19; Line:10; Roll: CSSCT1891_342)………this entry for the above creates two difficulties:

(1):   There are four children mentioned Henry (born 1880), Elizabeth (1881), Jesse (1885)
and Donald (1887).   I can find no evidence of their individual births nor their
mother's name and her marriage to Henry DORWOOD (assuming there was one!!).
He was discharged from the Army in April 1886 after 22 years service, of which I
         have no information.

(2):   There are no further references to Henry DORWOOD after the 1891 Census other
than possibly the 1901 Scotland Census (Glasgow) in the name of Henry DARWOOD.

Hopefully somebody may be able to kindly help me solve the problems

Hello,

Patrick RUBBERY was discharged from the Hampshire Regiment - 37th & 67th Foot on 21/01/1871 after 10 years and 3 days service according to an entry on FindMyPast.

Can anyone confirm, or otherwise, this may have been the above Patrick RUBERY and, if "Yes", please show details, date of enlistment etc., should that be possible.

« on: Tuesday 12 March 24 17:01 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,

I understand Patrick RUBERY was born in Ireland on 12/05/1845, the son of Peter RUBERY and his wife Nancy (nee FAHEY).   Sadly, I have no idea of the town/county in which he was born and when he was baptised.   I wonder if someone could help please.   The information quoted has been researched from other documents.

Thank you

Lancashire / Joseph LEVER, born 1846, Ashton under Lyne
« on: Sunday 03 March 24 13:35 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,

Hopefully somebody will be able to provide details for this gentleman after 27th October 1866 (his release from Salford's New Bailey Prison)......he is fully documented prior to that date, but sadly post-1866 I can find nothing verifiable.

His parents were Nicholas LEVER (1821-1873) and Jane LEVER nee HALLAM (1824 - ?) and there were 6 siblings, William, John William, Henry, Mary Jane, Charles and Elizabeth Ann.

Thank you for your help.
