 :o JOHN ADAMSON was my great grandfather and although he was born (around 1852 and later buried in Kinross, he resided in Glasgow.  I believe it was Kinross (the town) but I am not entirely sure.  I am in Canada - a long way from Kinross.  So if a Rootschatter could find his beginning and end, I would be grateful.

Family History Beginners Board / One or two uncles or It started in Wigan.
« on: Saturday 19 July 14 01:59 BST (UK)  »
 I have posted before  (Northumberland) with great success but I realize I should start from the beginning.
???  My grandmother married twice and her last name was Heyes, then Prestt, then Attwood.  While she was Prestt, she had two boys.  The first was John (1900) and the second  Thomas (1901).  Both were listed at free BMD and born in Wigan.  Her husband was named Joshua Prestt (1874-1902), an explosive expert who died in an explosion early in their marriage.    I have met Thomas; so I know he is for real.   Why did John remain in England?  Does John Prestt have a marriage or death certificate?  Will I ever meet his descendants?

  ???   I do know it was 1823 in the United States and she died in Ste. Sophie, Canada East in 1891.
But which State and which spelling of the name - I have seen Mary-Ann Bazonni, Marcy Bazonni, Mary Brasoney.  Found her on 1851 Census ;East and West Canada, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, Terrebonne County, Lacorne Sub District.  As for where - I have seen Middlesex, England; Kansas during Lousiana Purchase; New York, Ward 8  ???  I have a photo; I know she existed.  Can anybody help me solve this mystery?  She married an Irishman, named Edward Carey in 1840.

 ???  Thomas McCarthy was born in Ireland in 1772, married Bridget Casey who was born in 1774 and came to Canada with their children, among the children was another Thomas, born in Ireland 1812.  They all died in Canada, in Quebec.  Thomas Senior in 1866 and his son in 1878.  Young Thomas married Catherine Wilson from Longford, Ireland  (in 1835 in Quebec).  However, what townland, what county, where do they come from.  Please help to find where these people originated.  Thank you.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / WARRINGTON - WIGAN - WESTHOUGHTON AGNES HAYES
« on: Saturday 08 February 14 17:22 GMT (UK)  »
 ::)  Death at 30
I do not know  for who to feel more sorry - my ggrandma or ggrandpa.  She married in Wigan about 1871 (Agnes Smith b. Abt 1846 in Warrington, father Isaac Smith) to Joseph Hayes (b. about 1846 in Wigan, father John Hayes).  They moved to Westhoughton to be near her mother (?) And had several children (my grandmother was last - Alice 1877).  Agnes died (abt 1878 perhaps in childbirth) leaving Joseph to care for children.  The English 1881 census has him living on Dale Street in Westhoughton as widower.  Lots of "w".
I do not know where and when she died; i do not know where anybody went after 1881.  I would like to know.  If anybody can help, it would be much appreciated.  I am new to the site and wish i could be of more help; I am also from Canada and maybe i can help over there.  Got to go to Canada.  See you later.  Audrey

Family History Beginners Board / I'm not sure TILLIE SCOTLAND
« on: Thursday 30 January 14 03:20 GMT (UK)  »
 :-\ TILLIE (I don't know his first names(s)) nor do I know if this is the corerect spelling of his name.  He may have been born in Scotland, near Glasgow.  I say that because his wife was from Campsie (or so she says; I've become very cynical about these people from the past;I am beginning to believe they told untruths; why?;that, too is difficult to say)  His wife, known as Mary Kelly was born in Campsie, Stirlingshire around 1852 and married (Yes, I know she was already married to Tillie  but it is recorded in the 1879 on a marriage certificate to John Adamson, born about 1852 in Kinross that she is a widow so Tillie may have died).  Anyway, I would like to know his name, when he was born and if he existed at all.  How do I go about this when I know so little.  If you can, please help.  By the way John Adamson is my ggrandfather.
