United States of America / ROTHERMAL/ROTHERMEL - Whitman County, Washington ca 1904
« on: Tuesday 12 October 21 20:17 BST (UK)  »
Looking for the birth of Emma ROTHERMAL 1904 in Colfax, Whitman County, Washington, father is Henry ROTHERMAL and mother is Katharine/Katie.  Also trying to locate the death of Katharine/Katie ROTHERMAL 1904/1905 also in Whitman County.
I have searched newspapers between 1902-1910; birth and death records that I can find, mostly German Lutheran Church records - all without success.  I located her confirmation record in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Endicott, Whitman, Washington in 1919, no details given as to parentage, etc.  I also found Emma ROTHERMAL (transcribed as ROTHERMIN) in the 1910 census of Dusty, Whitman, Washington living with Henry and Mary SCHMUCK and noted as an adopted daughter.  Mary (Marie Elisabeth) SCHMUCK nee REPP is a sister to the first husband (John REPP) of second wife of Henry ROTHERMAL.
Henry and his second wife Katharine LUFT ROTHERMAL are in the 1910 census of Oshkosh, Winnebago, Wisconsin.  They were married in Oshkosh in 1906. Why father Henry left Emma behind when he and his two sons went to Wisconsin is unknown.  The family eventually settled (ca 1916) in Wyandotte, Wayne, Michigan and remained there.  Emma married James RUTLEDGE in Canada in 1920 divorced in Michigan in 1930 and married second, Cloyd FUNK in 1931 in Wyandotte.  She died in 1997 in Trenton, Wayne, Michigan.  The family apparently never talked about the first wife of Henry, or at least did not give any details.
Through this maze I need to find Emma's birth record hoping it will give me her mother's maiden name (I have WEITZ/WHITE as a possibility from one of Emma's brother's death cert.), and also the death of the same.
Any help will be gratefully received!

Cornwall / PETHERICK/PEATHERICK 1774
« on: Monday 27 January 20 19:34 GMT (UK)  »
I have found a burial record for an Elizabeth PEATHERICK 5 July 1774 at Stoke Climsland on the Cornwall OPC site.  There is a note on the record - Afft before the Revd Geo. JAGO - which I do not understand.  Is it referring to an affidavit?  Would the document have survived and if so, where would I look for it?
Thank you.

Kent Lookup Requests / FUGGLE in Tenterden
« on: Wednesday 03 October 18 22:57 BST (UK)  »
Would someone have some time to check the Tenterden Parish Registers for me for the following:

Frances or Francis FUGGLE born 28 August 1824 and baptised 18 July 1830, child of Thomas FUGGLE and Sarah his wife.  I have been sent two entries, one says daughter and the other son.  I'd like to know what the actual registers says please.  (Ancestry says female).

I have a Frances FUGGLE marrying Abbregor PAINE in 1845 we have always thought to be this daughter of Thomas and Sarah, but now I'm worrying!

Thank you.

Kent Lookup Requests / Apprenticeship Records 1825-1838 Frederick BRIDGES
« on: Friday 28 September 18 18:32 BST (UK)  »
Hi:  Trying to see if my 3ggfather, Frederick BRIDGES may have been apprenticed as a shoe/boot maker somewhere in the vicinity of Tenterden, Kent.  He was apprenticed out for ten years in London in 1825 when he was ten years of age to a George Robinson but records do not show anything further on him.  Then he appears in Tenterden where he married my 3ggmother, Harriet FUGGLE in 1838.  They subsequently immigrated to Australia in 1838.  Harriet's father, Thomas FUGGLE was a shoemaker and I suppose it's possible he was turned over to him or someone else in the years between 1825 and 1838.  Anything on him in Kent in those years would be very much appreciated.

Does anyone have access to a history of Caldwell County, Kentucky covering the early pioneers of the county?
I am still searching for any information on Samuel JONES who came to Caldwell County from North Carolina and married his first wife in Caldwell Co. in 1809 (Rachel SMITH CANNON).  He married his second wife Tericy CAMPBELL in 1822 also in Caldwell and died between July and November 1850 place unknown but estate probated in Caldwell County in November 1850.  He appears on the 1850 census with wife Tericy and his children.  I know nothing of Tericy CAMPBELL other than she was born ca 1809 in Caldwell County and died before March 1870 place unknown but her estate was also probated in 1870 in Caldwell County.

Right now if I could find where in North Carolina Samuel JONES came from and anything about his parents, and his life in Caldwell County, as well as anything on Tericy CAMPBELL JONES, I would be very grateful.
Children of Samuel and Tericy are: (in case it is helpful)
George W., Hiram B., Orleana, Napoleon B., Mahala A., Nancy Ellen, Mildred M., Rachel Melvinah.

Thank you,
Glenys

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / John William(s) BRIDGES - Islington
« on: Sunday 04 June 17 20:52 BST (UK)  »
Ancestry has the following baptism of Frederick BRIDGES:
London England Births and Baptisms 1813-1906
St. Mary Islington, Middlesex:
Frederick Bridges son of John Williams and Mary Bridges, bapt 16 June 1815, born 19 May 1815.  Father's occupation weaver, residence workhouse.

It is possible this is my 3ggfather (Frederick) who married in 1838 in Tenterden, Kent and almost immediately he and his wife migrated to Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

My dilemma is his father = John William(s) BRIDGES - I can find nothing further of him after or before the above entry.  He does not appear in any census record, nor does he appear to have died in the London area.  It is possible he was of the Church of Scotland, but non-comformist registers do not show him either as having died, remarried or baptised other children.

John's wife is supposed to be Mary GOW.  Frederick gives his father's name as John, James and Frederic, so no help there.  He is consistent with mother Mary GOW.

Any help or direction very much appreciated.
