Derry (Londonderry) / Whipp family
« on: Wednesday 14 December 22 09:20 GMT (UK)  »
I was contacted by someone looking for info on the Whipp family. What I was given is the following:
Sarah Whips 1832 marriage co Derry
her husband Thomas died about 1830(possibly in Enniskillen) so marriage may be remarriage. Their daughter Sarah married and moved to Manchester,England.
I found snippets of info about various Whipp family members but nothing on the above. Anyone want to see if they have more luck???
What I found:
Margaret Whips age 11 ( + age 12) born Enniskillen imprisoned for theft in Ireland

Marriage:
Thomas Whips  father: Thomas Whips
Eleanor Hix  father:William Hix
married 25 July 1853 Innismacsaint,Fermanagh
(Thomas must have died 1853- 1859 as Eleanor remarried)
Marriage:
Eleanor Whips (Hicks) widow
married 28 June 1859
Enniskillen,Fermanagh
to William Dane

Most of the Whipps(Whips) I have come across are in England- many in Lancashire area.
I came across one marriage for Thomas & Sarah that looks good but not in Ireland.
Thomas Whipe married Sarah Youngs 30 July 1818 in Norfolk,England. This may not be them at all however. Any ideas????

New Zealand Completed Requests / Watson sisters
« on: Tuesday 02 August 22 04:08 BST (UK)  »
Hi all, looking for a bit of assistance in tracing 2 sisters who moved from Lanarkshire,Scotland to New Zealand. The sisters are Isabella Watson born 1893 and Annie (Rosanna) Watson born 1888. I have passenger lists for them going to and leaving NZ multiple times on trips. They appear to be shopkeepers in NZ. Even using Electoral Rolls, I cannot pin them down 100%.I do not believe either ever married. I am looking to find where they lived and when they died. Any help would be much appreciated.

South Africa / Looking for Gilmour family
« on: Friday 05 February 16 07:21 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I'm looking to trace a Gilmour family in the Krugersdorp area of South Africa. The information I have is sparse, but here it is.
James Gilmour  born Glasgow, Scotland
migrated out to South Africa around 1870-1880
He died in Krugersdorp in June 1933 and left an estate.
My understanding is that he had two daughters, Elizabeth & Margaret. I do not know if they were alive when he died and have no idea of a wife's name.
I have located him in voters lists in the time periods prior to his death. If anyone can give me information on where to look for him or any members of his family it would be much appreciated. I would love to contact any family who may be out there. Kim

Antrim / looking for McIlhatten relatives from county Antrim
« on: Wednesday 06 May 15 05:27 BST (UK)  »
researching my family, I have come across the name of McIlhatten from county Antrim. I have found a marriage to Gilmore also from country Antrim around 1800. McIlhatten and variations seems to be quite an uncommon surname. I am looking for anyone whom may have that name in their family and any information in Antrim about McIlhattens in the 1800's even a nudge in the right direction would be a big help. Kim
