Wales / Baptisms 1860/61 Cwmbach,Aberdare and Tredegar
« on: Monday 05 May 14 08:21 BST (UK)  »
Please can anyone advise where I can find/search the baptism records for Cwmbach, Aberdare and Tredegar in 1860/1861.

I am looking for the baptism of John Edwards, son of Thomas Edwards and Ann. He was born in Cwmbach, Aberdare, but the baptism might have been in Tredegar.

It is probably Non-Conformist.

Any pointers gratefully received.

Lancashire / Liverpool 1924 Tram Death
« on: Friday 06 September 13 11:26 BST (UK)  »
Still looking for  Richard Dennis b. abt 1870 who supposedly died abt 1924 on or in an accident with a tram.  I assumed it was Manchester from family stories, but no luck. We have not been able to find a record of his death in Manchester.

However, there is a death of a Richard Dennis in Sep 1924 in Liverpool aged 48 who I  can't find a matching birth or census record for. I am considering sending for this certificate just in case, as there were family links to Birkenhead.

Does anyone know of any Liverpool records/archives which might help please?

Sorry it's all so vague.

Lancashire / Tram accident 1924
« on: Thursday 05 September 13 12:11 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone know where I could find out about tram accidents in 1924 in Manchester please?

I am particularly interested to see if there was anything on 27 March 1924.

There are no newspapers for Manchester for that time that I can find on line.

Many thanks for any tips.

Lancashire / Inquests 1928 - 1930
« on: Saturday 03 August 13 16:16 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone advise whether I will find inquests and/or coroners reports from 1928 - 1930 at the Manchester Archives Office please?

Or  newspaper articles for the same period.

The individual was thought to have died on a tram or in a tram accident around that time.

Many thanks

Please can anyone help find the baptism and parents of Richard Edwards born abt 1805 Snargate according to all census info.

If it's any help, a Thomas Edwards was a witness at Richard's wedding to Mary Ann Fellowes in 1827.

Pembrokeshire Lookup Requests / Whittow, Phillis in Haverfordwest/Marloes
« on: Tuesday 01 May 12 08:55 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for the death or re-marriage of Phillis Whittow nee Wather (born abt 1796 Hasguard) in Pembrokeshire - probably Marloes or Haverfordwest.

The background:

Phillis married widower farmer William Whittow 24 Feb 1831 Haverfordwest St Thomas and had 5 children, the last was William Benjamin Whittow in Nov 1837 Marloes.

In the 1841 census, their children are living with other families, but I can find no trace of William and Phillis. There are a few possibilities of the death of William, but no trace at all of Phillis anywhere after the baptism record.

Any help would be most gratefully received. The surname can appear as Whittow/Whitlow/Whitton/Whitta, which doesn't make life easy.

Northumberland / Gibbons in 1881 census only
« on: Sunday 14 August 11 15:30 BST (UK)  »
I have been looking without success for any Gibbons people in the 1881 census. They should be in the St Nicholas area of Newcastle, specifically in the area of The Close.

The main family is  James Gibbons 1842, Mary Isabella 1849 with children Sarah Ann 1880, Mary Isabella 1878, James 1876 and Eliza 1872.

Thomas Gibbons or Harrison born 1866 and John Gibbons/Harrison born 1870 might also be with them.

I have tried every permutation possible, but to no avail. Does anyone know of any issues with the 1881 census in the Newcastle area?
