Hello there,

Has anyone been researching the Garnett family which was prominent in Crosthwaite & Lyth, Westmorland, in the eighteenth century? I am descended from George Garnett (1702-1783) who was born in Crosthwaite and died in Heversham. I understand there may be a connection to the Anthony Garnett of the sixteenth century Castle Dairy house in Kendal, and ergo to the noble Parr family. Certainly the name Anthony Garnett is a recurring name throughout the generations of Garnetts in my family. I would be keen to hear from anyone who has a shared connection or further information. Any assistance or directions would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,
Steve Wilkinson

Armed Forces / Paying to leave the Army in the late 1880's?
« on: Sunday 05 October 14 20:28 BST (UK)  »
Hello there,

I wonder if anyone can enlighten me as to where I might find information on an elusive ancestor who apparently paid to leave the Army in the late 1880's? Is there a specific set of records to be consulted, or would these be in with the general service records?

Kind regards, Steven.

Devon Lookup Requests / WILKINSON Lookup Request in Devon
« on: Wednesday 15 January 14 20:46 GMT (UK)  »
Hello there,

Would anyone be kind enough to look up a baptism for me in Devon? I am looking to find the baptism entry of Arthur James WILKINSON, who was born circa 1862, possibly in "Ford" parish. His father was apparently also called Arthur James WILKINSON. I'm afraid that this is pretty much the only information I have about the early life of this man, I do not know his mother's name or the names of any siblings, etc.

Many thanks, Steven.

Dorset Lookup Requests / INGRAM Lookup Request in Dorset
« on: Sunday 12 January 14 19:01 GMT (UK)  »
Hello there,

Would anyone be kind enough to look up a marriage for me in Dorset? I am looking to find the entry for James INGRAM and his bride Martha, who were probably married in the years immediately prior to 1798, which was when their son William was born. I would expect to find them in either the parish of Long Crichel, or Gussage St Michael, or in neighbouring parishes.

Many thanks, Steven.
