Hello Everyone,
Can I please ask one of you very clever restorers to help brighten and clean up poor Dad.

There are some stains for want of a better word, that spoil the picture.

I have been given this picture with some others of my parents that need some repair.

Hoping someone can help,

Regards

Barbara

Can someone please help me with the place of birth of George Sheppard.

The 1871 Census shows him living with his son in law William Lewis and his family in Newport but I cannot understand George's place of birth.

It looks like 'Cornton/Compton Chaulon. Gloucestershire.
The Census ref. is RG10/5346 page 35

aAy ideas please!

These two pictures were taken from a show case, where the originals were kept.  We were not allowed to take them from the frames.  Is it possible to have them tidied up please.

I would like to keep the writing as they are the names of each player coach etc. They are of Ebbw Vale Rugby Football Club. one in the season 1908/1909 and the other 1910/1911.

My Grandfather is on each of them

Hoping that one of you very clever helpers can oblige.

Cheers, Barbara

The Common Room / Marriage annullments
« on: Thursday 30 August 07 10:33 BST (UK)  »
Is there anywhere that I can get a record of a possible annulment of a marriage?

A relative was married in 1918 but the new husband disappeared and was never spoken about in the family.

It only came to light about three years ago when I started researching my fathers side of the family.

I placed some messages on the internet and had a reply from a lady in Canada who was interested in my relative.

I then spoke to my mother (she is 98) and she told me what she knew. The marriage and the husbands name, which coincided with the name of the lady in Canada.  She was as amazed as I was when she knew that they had married and that I had a copy of their marriage certificate.

I am still wondering if the marriage was annuled or if he just left never to be heard of again, until now.

Any help would be much appreciated
