Thanks :)

Hoping someone with a findmypast sub can let me know if the dates are the same for these two baptisms:

Both named Catharine, baptised in Cotgrave, Nottinghamshire in 1796. Both have parents named William and Mary.

One is entered Catharine Shipsides, daughter of William Shipsides and Mary Simpson.

The other is entered Catharine Simpson, daughter of William Shipsides Simpson and Mary.

I've worked this out from searches but can't check the dates. Can someone please let me know if they have the same date?

Thank you

William Johnston(e) and Ann Corrie were married in Kirkandrews on Esk in 1818. She were also born here but William from Scotland, likely in Canonbie.

William, Ann and their two unmarried children would all be buried in Kirkandrews as well, but no baptisms for any of their children here:

George born Oct 1819, buried Kirkandrews 15 Dec 1819 (aged 7 weeks)
Ann: born abt. 1821, buried Kirkandrews 1846
Violet: born abt. 1823
Frances: born abt. 1825
Elizabeth: born abt. 1827

Residence remained Kirkandrews all while the children grew up and parents passed away. Son George's burial pinpoints his birth to the month but still no baptism. I've looked all over ScotlandsPeople for a Scottish baptism but nothing. Have also looked all over Arthuret and other CofE churches nearby, looking at the images from my local family history centre.

Can anyone advise where I might find these baptisms?

Can anybody find online the actual marriage image? I've only been able to find 2 images of bonds on Ancestry under "London and Surrey, England, Marriage Bonds and Allegations, 1597-1921" but neither have the witness names which is what I'm curious to see.

Thank you for any help.

On Thursday I created a topic in Suffolk Lookup Requests called Record on Ancestry for Rose Saunders, 1906, Suffolk. It was answered and I thanked the person, but the topic disappeared before I had a chance to write down the info. Why was it removed and why wasn't I notified of its removal? It was accessible through this link http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=768960

Cumberland / Can anybody find James Graham or Margaret after 1871?
« on: Tuesday 04 April 17 07:13 BST (UK)  »
99.9% sure this Margaret is Margaret Brown, sister to my 4x great grandmother Jane Brown, whose birthplace in Scotland is unknown. I can't find James or Margaret in a UK 1881 census so I began looking abroad in hopes she died in Australia or somewhere where the birthplace and mother's maiden name are named on the death certificate. I haven't found her or James but John Wharton, Margaret's nephew here in the 1871 census with them, was living in Wagga Wagga, Australia by 1879. I haven't found his ship's passenger record but found him there through the Trove newspaper website, searching his name with his occupation, a tailor. Unfortunately I haven't found James there the same way, also a tailor.

Margaret's 1841/51 censuses put her age as 14/23 with the birth year of 1827/28. 1861 census is officially missing or wasn't recorded for her area. This 1871 census puts her age and birth year as 38 and 1833, but there are many factors indicating this is the right margaret: Scotland birth place, nephew John Wharton living with them, James' signature on another family member's marriage certificate and there appears to be a marriage for James and Margaret in 1863 in Carlisle.

I've had a good look for the couple following the 1871 census but hoping someone else knows other tricks and may find something, so please have a go. Thank you!

1871 census:

 RG10/5208/60 p18

James Graham       Head      Married   36   Tailor      Kirklinton, Cumberland
Margaret Graham    Wife      Married   38   -            Scotland
John Wharton       Boarder   Married   19   Tailor      Wetheral, Cumberland

Australia / COMPLETED Would this 1905 NSW death have the parents named?
« on: Thursday 30 March 17 04:30 BST (UK)  »
Ancestry results don't have parents named for 1905 this NSW death. Does this mean they won't be named on the death cert?

I thought if I could find one of their children dying in Aus, it would help break down a brick wall in regards to the mother and her birthplace. So I've managed to find one, but it doesn't have his parents named on the Ancestry transcription. I'm pretty sure, don't have a subscription, but other entries show where the names would've been. If anyone could please double check by searching: John Wharton, 1905, Wagga Wagga, NSW. His family did know his father's name at least as that's mentioned in a death notice in the newspaper.

Further more, if it did name the parents, would it name the parents birthplace specifically, or would it just name the country? Have read that NSW death records list mother's birthplace, as well as other things, which should burn my brick wall to the ground!

Thanks for any insight.

« on: Wednesday 04 January 17 07:51 GMT (UK)  »
Just learnt there's an 1811 census for Metfield that has some small details. If anyone has a copy, could you please check for James Saunders with his family and Walter Poppy with his family.

Thank you.
