Lancashire Lookup Requests / Thomas Mitchell - Murder
« on: Monday 20 February 12 10:29 GMT (UK)  »
I have a Thomas Mitchell b 1894 Widnes and d 1940 Manchester. (Spouse: Ada Mitchell nee Hunt from Widnes)

Having spoken to two different family members, both say that they were told he was murdered / robbed whilst working on the railways in (or around) Manchester.

Would I be able to find any reference to this in newspaper articles etc. How would I go about looking for this/

TIA

Cheshire / HUGE CHALLENGE :Lost Wilson's Tattenhall
« on: Saturday 19 January 08 06:55 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I' hoping somebody could point me in the right direction! ;D

I have a Robert Wilson b 1778 Tattenhall d 1873 Nantwich and Thomas Wilson b 1782 Tattenhall d 1866 Nantwich
Thomas married Elizabeth Morrey 1809 St Boniface Bunbury
Robert married Elizabeth Whittingham at St Boniface Bunbury 1808.

Robert and Elizabeth's son Robert b 1811 Beeston married 1836 St Oswald Chester Sarah Wilson b 1811 Beeston, daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth

They both lived (as per the census) in Beeston
I am trying to establish if Robert (snr) and Thomas were brother's (or possibly first cousins)
I have checked the parish records (online) and can find nothing for their births.
PLEASE PLEASE can anyone help and suggest how I might find them!

Many thanks in advance

Completed Census Requests / IGI Confused
« on: Friday 18 January 08 16:34 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I have looked on the IGI for a marriage of Jack Macgregor Wilson and Gertrude Mitchell approx 1945 in Widnes, possibly St Pauls. Nothing came up at all!

A friend (who has been doing this a lot longer than me), said he found on the IGI the above marriage 1st Qrt 1945.

What am I doing wrong that I cannot see or find this???? ??? ???

Thanks
Tanja
