England / Help with deciphering a situation in a newspaper clipping!
« on: Sunday 09 May 21 19:38 BST (UK)  »
Good evening everyone,

I was wondering if someone could help me decipher exactly what this newspaper clipping means, please? I am a little confused about the whole situation!

It was posted on 17th April 1863 in the Stamford Mercury newspaper.

Thank you very much in advance!
Kind Regards,
Tony.

P.S. Thomas Lovett Beacock was my 3x great grandfather, and Gilbert Burton Handson was his step father. (note the old term of "son-in-law" to show this relation).

Yorkshire (East Riding & York) Lookup Requests / Edith Barr Drowned Fitling
« on: Friday 08 November 19 13:12 GMT (UK)  »
Hello Everyone.

I am trying to find anything about the death of Edith Barr at Fitling, East Yorkshire. She apparently drowned in the pond at a farm there called Canham's Farm (sometimes known as Cantram's). I have found the death index from 1913, but trying to prove that she drowned.

We know for definite a girl drowned there. A lot of people in the village know of it and say that "she was a Ford". Her mother's maiden name was Ford and she was living in Fitling with her grandparents, also Fords.

Thank you very much in advance for your help,
Tony.

Lincolnshire Lookup Requests / Michaell Beacocke and Bettris Reder
« on: Thursday 06 December 18 20:57 GMT (UK)  »
Hi everyone!

My 10x great grandparents were Michaell Beacock(e) and Bettris Reder. I was wondering if anyone could help me find more information on them, please?

What I know:
  • Michaell and Bettris married on 17th November 1612 in Appleby, Lincolnshire.
  • They had 3 children that I know of: Agnes (1615-?), Anthony (1624-?) and Matthew (1627-1686).
  • Michaell passed away in 1644 and was buried on either 6th or 7th July 1644 in Appleby, Lincolnshire.

Thank you so much for your help in advance. I know that it is sometimes difficult at this stage to find out information, but this has been a brick wall for a long time. I would love to find more clues!

Tony.

Hi everyone!

My 3x great grandfather was Thomas Beacock born about 1841 in the Melton Ross area of Lincolnshire. He took his mother's maiden name of Beacock (Sarah Beacock born 1818). He was illegitimate but I'm struggling to find a baptism record for him or any information that may point to who his father is.

I can't get a birth certificate for him either because I have to search for his second name. Because I cannot find anything, it suggests that he could have possibly been registered under with the father's surname rather than Beacock, his mother's maiden name.

I feel as if I have tried everything I can think of so any pointers would be greatly appreciated, as I've been stuck on this one for a while.
Thank you very much!
Tony.

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Help to date Beacock photograph please!
« on: Wednesday 10 August 16 15:17 BST (UK)  »
This was amongst photographs that my uncle has. These were originally my paternal grandfather's so this photograph is most probably from his side of the family. There are no clues on the back of the photograph of whom the man is, or the date. My grandfathers name was Frederick Beacock. We are from the UK.

Thank you very much,
Tony.

Yorkshire (East Riding & York) / Locate a Grave: Hedon Road Cemetery
« on: Thursday 21 July 16 15:01 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone!

Could anyone help me locate where the grave "13-93" is in the Hedon Road Cemtery please?

I haven't found a way of finding where abouts the graves are if you only have a plot number.

Thank you very much,
Tony.

Hi everyone!

I was wondering if there was anyone who had a Beacock family bible, who was willing to share the information from it, in order to try and link our trees together!

Thank you very much,

Yorkshire (East Riding & York) / Is Thomas Wright, Thomas Howden Wright?
« on: Thursday 19 May 16 13:42 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone!

I am trying to figure out whether or not my 3x great grandfather Thomas Wright is Thomas Howden Wright. Another relative has researched the family tree and I am checking it, but I am not totally convinced that it is correct.

Thomas Wright married Isabella Thompson on Dec 1877 in Beverley, East Yorkshire. I know for definite that these two relatives are correct as I have relatives who met them, and I have photographs.

Thomas Wright was born in Thirtleby, East Yorkshire in 1852 and Isabella Thompson was born in Ganstead in 1852. There is a Thomas HOWDEN Wright who was baptised in the next village with parents Samuel Wright and Mary.

Thank you for your help!
Tony
