Has anyone researched into this family? It would appear my ancestor Joseph b. 1789 Madeira settled in Hull and married Jane Bravender/Bravener.

Copied and pasted from a record I've come across in www.findmypast.co.uk. I am interested to find out how to access the records with the reference number I've found. I'm hoping that by getting proper access to this licence bond, I'd be able to find out more about where James Heppenstall comes from (presumably Newark) and find out Catherine's true maiden name.

Has anyone researched the family in Nottinghamshire before 1800?

So far I have traced my ancestry to a James Heppenstall whom married Catharine Corbett in Thurlby (1799). I don  not have their dobs or deaths. Just the marriage.

I wonder if anyone has researched the Heppenstall family further back before 1800 and is willing to share the information?

The Common Room / 1st cousin marriages in the early 19th Century
« on: Monday 08 May 17 12:04 BST (UK)  »
I'm descended from James Heppenstall (Newark) and Rebecca Haywood (Newark). They are my great x 4 grandparents.

James mother = Ann Bellamy who married Richard Heppenstall.

Rebecca's mother = Rebecca Bellamy who married George Haywood.

Rebecca and Ann parents is John Bellamy and Elizabeth Green.

That makes them 1st cousins by marriage. I have double checked, and triple checked and the marriage record is a true and correct record. I have double/tripled checked their parents to make sure there was no mistake.

Was first cousin marriages common in England in those days? How was it viewed?

Further background information.

The Bellamy and Green families are from Yaxley, Glapthorn and Sawtry. The Bellamy ancestors include the Spencer/Spensor, Vere/Veare familes.

in 1871 Walsall parish population census,

Joseph is age 15. His father is also Joseph (39), mother Jane (31, sister Eliza (10), brother Samuel (2).

Both Josephs' occupation were Pudler.

All (except Samuel) were recorded born in Rowley Regis.

Unable to trace 1861 population census for them.

Unable to trace birth certificate for Joseph Parkes born circa 1856.

Can anyone help?

Thanking you all for your replies in advance.
