Hi
Any help much appreciated in my search for Lily Webb's marriage to Thomas Dawson around 1896. They had two sons: Thomas survived, another died aged around 18 months. Thomas Jnr is believed to come from Sussex, around Shoreham or Brighton, birth date 12 Aug 1898, died 1990 Great Wakerling. Family say he was known as Jack, possibly his middle name, or maybe John.

In 1901 Lily of Canewdon, Thomas and John, born Brighton 1899, are in Tooting and in 1911 Lily of Malden and Jack, born 1899 Brighton, are in North Leyton without Thomas, though she is marked married not widowed.

I have Lily with parents John and Maria Webb in Great Wakering, Essex in 1881 and 1891. I am also drawing a blank on Thomas parentage and birthplace. I am not sure if the marriage took place in Essex or Sussex but they lived at 213 High Street, Gt Wakerling until their deaths.

Many thanks in advance.

Europe / Joseph Seeley 1824 - 1913 Born in Denmark
« on: Sunday 25 February 18 09:09 GMT (UK)  »
I have the UK naturalisation papers (1854) for Joseph Seeley who was born in Denmark in 1824. He is married (to Caroline Eliza Carter, 1822? - 1860, I believe) and has one child, who would be Malvina, born 1853. The addresses on the naturalization papers and Malvina's baptism cert match. ButI can find no birth or marriage certificate for him. The couple are missing from the 1851 and 1861 censuses (in the Marylebone area (some data is missing from these censuses. Joseph puts Marylebone as his birthplace on his later censuses. I have a lot of info on him from 1871 onwards, but cannot find the couple's origins in Ancestry or Find My Past.

If anyone has any access to Danish records and can find any information on him I would be very grateful. Thank you.

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Joseph Seeley 1925-1913 born Marylebone
« on: Friday 06 November 15 17:29 GMT (UK)  »
Hi. I would be grateful if anyone can give parentage/origins on Joseph Seeley, born 1825 in New Rd, Marylebone, married to Caroline Eliza Carter, known as Ellen. Children are Conrad, Adolph Unna, Rosalia, Malvina. I cannot find the family in 1851 or 1861 censuses. Family story is that Joseph may have spent time in Germany, which explains the names given to sons. He was a solicitor in Holborn and later Richmond where he died in 1913. Caroline was born abt 1832 in Willsbridge Gloucs, but I cannot find a birth or marriage record for either of them.
Many thanks for anyone who can help. Regards, Lin

Cork / John Driskell died 1810 Southwark - from Ireland?
« on: Wednesday 23 September 15 16:54 BST (UK)  »
Hi. I am seeking info about my Driskell/Driscoll line. I have traced my London family back to John Driskell (1807-54) and wife Ann Elmes (1808-68) who were born and died in the St Olave parish of Southwark. John Driskell's parents were John (d. 1810) and Mary Dicey( 1771-1841); they married in St Olave in 1798. There is no likely London birth record for John and I don't think the Devon Driskells are connected. There is much online discussion from a while back that gives John (1807) Irish ancestry
http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/driscoll-of-cork/2008-03/1206654524 and http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~colin/DriscollOfCork/dna/yDNA.htm.
I am trying to find out if John senior came over from Ireland before his marriage. I wonder if anyone has had any luck tracing his place of birth/parentage, either in England or Ireland. Many thanks for any help anyone can give. Lindyven

Cheshire Lookup Requests / Looking for mother of Richard Hough of Middlewich
« on: Monday 31 August 15 22:18 BST (UK)  »
Hi, can anyone help me sort out my gaps please?
I am seeking the mother of Richard Hough born c.1850 in Middlewich (not the Wharton/Winsford/Whitegate families). He is married to Eliza Newton. In the 1951 census I place him living with his father Richard, labourer, born c.1830 and his grandparents Richard and Ellen but no mother. I cannot find him on the 1861; he is not with his father and it's not him on the vessel Sarah. By 1871 he is married to Eliza.
I found a Richard Hough born to a Hannah Hough in Middlewich in 1849 with no spouse named. I find a Hannah working away from home as a servant in 1861 but cannot firmly connect her or find her afterwards. If anyone can fill in the missing links I would be very grateful, but these pesky Houghs are so complicated! Many thanks.
