Warwickshire / Bissell Quaker Family of Henly-in-Arden, Late 1600's
« on: Tuesday 31 March 20 16:19 BST (UK)  »
I'm researching a Bissell family in my family tree. They appear to have been Quaker, living in Henly-in-Arden. The husband & wife/parents were John (died I think 1728 Henly-in-Arden) & Mary Bissell. Children being John (1688), Mary (1689), Sarah (1690), Hannah (1692), James (1693), Josiah (1695), Nathaniel (1698), George (1700), Elizabeth (1703) & Esther (1705). I found their births in non-conformist archives on familysearch.org.

I'd like to know who John's parents were & that of his wife, whoever she was (I've seen her maiden name in various places as Watts, but no marriage date). Secondly, I've seen on bmdregisters.co.uk that Henly-in-Arden had a meeting from about 1669-1754, so what meeting would John's parents have attended before 1669? Any help welcome & appreciated.

Quaker Family History / John Bringhurst, 1655-1699, Quaker Printer - England
« on: Saturday 02 February 19 08:39 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find a website of things or one thing he printed for George Fox. I know of one thing he printed, and its called the George Fox Primer, but I cant find it online to look at it. John Bringhurst is an ancestor of mine & I'm interested in knowing & seeing what kinds of things he printed for the Society of Friends. Also what meeting he was a member of. How can I find all this out, where can I find the literature & a mention of his membership?

Norfolk / Death Dates Needed: Adamson, Harvey, Humphreys
« on: Tuesday 20 March 18 13:14 GMT (UK)  »
I'm trying to find the death dates for the following siblings who once lived in Norfolk: Maude E (Humphreys) Harvey born 1915, Rosalie M (Humphreys) Adamson born 1919, David L Humphreys born 1926.

Maude & Rosalie both married in Depwade. Rosalie's husband Benjamin died in 1979 Norwich. But I can't find anything on Rosalie. Can't find either sister after their marriages in the late 1930s. I suspect they both lived in Norfolk. David I can't find at all. Would appreciate any help with this.

I am asking for help on locating the grave of Maud Harley, who died at what was called Fulham Hospital in 1959 (now Charring Cross I think). Lived in Fulham most of her life.

Born Maud Elizabeth Harmer, 1877 in Norfolk. Married Percy Charles Harley in 1898.

Already tried asking the hospital but they're unable to help & cemetery association for the area asks too high a price to do a search in their cemeteries for her name. I know she's gotta be in the area but don't know where exactly. Hoping someone can help who lives there or has knowledge of her.

Any help very much appreciated.

I found this name, possibly an ancestor, living in Thornbury Twp, Chester County PA in 1726/1727. Wondering if anyone has info on the Williams family from that part of the state/county & Samuel's place in it. He or his family may have been Quaker. Many thanks for any help.

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Early Doungworth(e)'s of Bradfield/Sheffield
« on: Tuesday 26 April 16 22:39 BST (UK)  »
i have in my family tree a Thomas Doungworthe, lived in Bradfield, metropolitan borough of Sheffield, metropolitan county of South Yorkshire, region of Yorkshire and the Humber. i have notes saying he lived about 1515 - 1591, married an Elizabeth. children were Elizabeth, Thurstan, John, Thomas, Nicholas & Giles. looking for information that can take me back past Thomas & shed some light on what kind of church he belonged to. thinking catholic or anglican. have seen name variants such as Doungeworthe, Doungworthe, Doungworth, Dungworth, Dangworth. he had children baptized in Rotherham, grandchildren christened at  Sheffield Cathedral/St Peters Church. have seen mention of the following Doungworthe's:

1313 William born in Storrs, England
1338 Richard, an Ecclesfield parish
juror
1378 John, living in Handsworth
1442 John, & wife Beatrice, moved from Ughill & Dungworthe, & set up a corn mill by the river Dan/Don at Carbrook, halfway between Sheffield & Rotherham, had a son John living in 1461, who had a son John in 1552 that left money to a daughter Alice to mend Carbrough Lane.

hope im related to one or all of the above Doungworthe's. any help appreciated.

London and Middlesex / George Arment (died 1825) Family - Need Info
« on: Sunday 28 February 16 14:25 GMT (UK)  »
I'm researching the Arment family that lived in Middlesex in the 1700's & 1800's. Earliest member I can find thus far is a George Arment who died in 1825 Whitechapel, London. Was married to, I believe, a Harriet, who died in 1817. I think they had a son Thomas in the mid 1780's. Would like to get more info on George, including parents names & grandparents, as much info if possible & a death date for Thomas. Early members of the family were associated wuth St Botolph Aldgate, if that helps. Any & all assistance appreciated.

Quaker Family History / Quaker Burials In Bradford
« on: Friday 04 September 15 13:49 BST (UK)  »
I have a couple Quaker ancestors whose deaths in the early 1700's were recorded by Bradford Quaker Meeting. It doesn't say where in Bradford, so where would they have been buried, what cemetery? Does Bradford Quaker Meeting have its own? Any help appreciated.
