Family History Beginners Board / Elizabeth Parkin b1816 Leeds
« on: Tuesday 07 August 18 15:38 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
Could you help me locate the whereabouts of Elizabeth?
She was born in Leeds 1816 to James Parkin & Mary Higham, she has 1 sister Rebecca  b1818 & 1 brother John b 1821.
She is on the 1841 census living with her parents, her brother John 1821, John's wife  Elizabeth b 1826, Charles Rose (mystery) b 1838 Edwin & Charles Parkin b 1840/1841 (these are mostly likely to be Elizabeths illegitimate children) & i can't quite make out the last child.. Alfred Holt??  (yet another mystery)
After this she vanishes, can't find birth registers for Edwin & Charles either!  ???

The Common Room / How can you prove/disprove theories & assumptions?
« on: Monday 12 March 18 22:02 GMT (UK)  »
Evening all,
So for the longest time i've been looking for further information on Mary Lines born between 1791/95 in Gresham Norfolk, she married Henry Butters on 20th October 1817 in Morston. I could never find anything on her "origins".  Today i found an entry for the Norfolk records office
Title   Marriage licence bond: Henry Butters and Mary Lines
Date   16 Oct 1817
Description   Groom’s parish: Morston.
Bride’s parish: Burnham Thorpe.
Parish of intended marriage: Morston.

So looking up Burnham Thorpe on ancestry there are no Lines there, births, deaths etc. So i just put in Mary rough birth & Burnham Thorpe, the nearest in Ives, do you think an Ives is possibly a Lines??
 Mary Ann Ives
17 Oct 1797   Baptism   Burnham Thorpe   Theophilus & Mary

Just as a side note Horatio Nelson was born in Burnham Thorpe in 1758!  ;D

« on: Saturday 04 March 17 15:40 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,
Could you help me find some information?

Emma Brook was baptised 17/8/1823 at the London Foundling hospital. Her number is 19480
they were given new names as they were baptised. An info sheet for the hospital says records of the mothers & the childrens original details are kept & were to find them online, but for the life of me i can't navigate the page to see anything!  ???
Emma went on to Marry Henry Cowderoy.  Can any one who isn't as thick as me have a look please?
I have never come across a foundling before & find it very interesting.

Devon Lookup Requests / Mary Ann Blackler
« on: Wednesday 28 December 16 18:55 GMT (UK)  »
Hello all, can you help find Mary Ann? I'm swimming in a fog of christmas pudding!  ;D

Mary Ann was born in Hichleigh Devon appx 1834 to Harriet Lee & Richard Blackler,  the family seem to have stayed around Bridford & St Thomas parish area.
There is a Mary Ann Blackler whom married in St Thomas Parish Apr/May/Jun 1854 to either a William Wilcocks or a William James (Ann Rolston is the other bride) but i can't confirm this or see the "husbands" on the 1861 census.

thanks

« on: Saturday 05 November 16 10:14 GMT (UK)  »
Hello forgive my stupidity,
I'm trying to see what regiment Thomas Lynch b 1839 Waterford is in. He's on the 1861 census at Raglan Bks but i can't seem to find the unit.
Info on him his sparse, he married Sarah Blackler in Plymouth 1871 & is on the 1881 census in Plymouth but that's all. Hoping i might find out more info via the military route. (one can hope)
