World War One / Colonel George Muir Oldham DSO
« on: Thursday 04 January 24 22:14 GMT (UK)  »
Good evening, I am hoping someone can help. I am looking for the mother's name and cause of death of Colonel George Muid Oldham DSO Royal Engineers, he was born in Largs Ayreshire, Scotland in 1876 and died in Calcutta in India 1955. I have already found his military history and am only really interested in his mother's name, any sibblings apart from his brother  Dr. J. H. Oldham, C.B.E., and as I say the cause of his death.

Thanks in advance.

« on: Sunday 22 May 22 20:04 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could help. I am trying to find out the exact birth place of my mother inlaw Mrs Joan Johnson. She was born Littlejohn on April 27th 1925 but at the age of 15 (1940) she was adopted by her mother Gladys Sumners in 1940. Apparently she was born in the Hansworth (or Hansworth wood) area but don't know exactly where. Is anybody able to help?

Olek.

Good afternoon, wondering if anyone can help. On August 31st of this year there will be a memmorial unveilled in the forest of Lyons near Lyons-La-Forêt dedicated to the memory of the crew to Handley Paige Halifax LW143 DY-O, a RAF Handley Paige Halifax. There will also be the names of three soldiers from the 53rd Reconnaissance Regiment.

Where as I aready have relatives of the crew of LW143 DY-O I have no one connected to the three soldiers Arthur Dick, Walter Ware and Aubrey Verdun Drew coming yet for the ceremony. Is there anyone out there that can help? They were first buried in Lorleau before being transfered to Longueval.

As I live in France it is difficult for me to go to Town Halls and the archives in Kew too do some research therefore any help from anyone out there would be appreciated.

In case anyone is interested and is in the area our ceremony will take place at the Carrefour des Quatre Cantons in the Forêt Domainale de Lyons about 3 Kms from Lyons-La-Forêt at 11:00am.

Attached is all the information I have on them.

I have been looking for information on corporal H Surridge, service number 6284681 of the Auxiliary Military Pioneer Corps. I found some on WW2talk but it was very limited, so I thougth I would try here as well. All I know is that he was seperated from his regiment in France in 1940, made his way down to Spain and then back to the UK. But that is all I found out. I know there is info at the UK archives concerning his escape but I want to know about his family back here in the UK, is there anyone that can help?

He was born in Mile End in 1913 and died at the age of 83 in the Canterbury area. I want to trey and find out if there any relatives alive as he apparently was help by the resistance in the area where I live in France and I want to see if there are any records of his experiences in my area.

Happy new to you all by the way.
