Northumberland / Moor Farm, 38 Station Road, Stannington, Morpeth 1960/75
« on: Wednesday 23 June 21 15:49 BST (UK)  »
Ello,

Is there anyone who lived/lives local to Moor Farm, 38 Station Road, Stannington, Morpeth, in the 1960's and 70's, I believe it was a live stock farm with cattle on it, not to be confused with Moorhouse farm up on the main road on Station Road, though it seems our family did resided there up to 1959, I have done all the normal checks on Moor farm, 38 Station Road, Stannington, Morpeth, but alas, coming up with nothing . . . : (

Any information of the Shaw family, Donald and Nora Shaw living at 21 Station Road, known as Moorhouse Farm would be also gratefully received . . .

As far as I know this is in Stannington, Morpeth, Northumberland and may have a connection to the Quinn family back in the late 50's into the 60's and the 70's, anyone recognizing the photo and has any information on it, it would be gratefully received . . .

« on: Wednesday 30 December 20 12:29 GMT (UK)  »
When searching for information on a John Grant, from the Craic of Tulloch, to get information of his son-in-law William Shaw mentioned on his head stone, I was directed to this book, *When Abernethy had an Evil Reputation, a story of late Victorian Abernethy and Kincardine . . .

Has anyone read it, pray tell . . .   ???

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Crossed out surnames - help with replacement names
« on: Wednesday 04 November 20 09:11 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I have a marriage dated 25 August 1800, in Tomitoul, Banffshire, of a Donald and a Margaret McIntosh, it seems both surnames have been crossed out and replaced with another, in the case of Margaret McIntosh it looks like to me as Giuld or possibly Guild, (Gauld) but; I have no idea what is written under the surname of Donald Mcintosh, I have left the next marriage in registery to give an idea how the scriber wrote.

From 1600's to 1810 there are only 6 marriages of any McIntoshes in Tomintoul, with Donald being the only male out of them all, if going off his father's name which is James it seems I am heading back into Auldearn, Nairn, but, my problem being was his surname McIntosh (MackIntosh) in the first place to be able follow this route back, and does anyone know why there would have been a change of surnames, anyone that could help I would be very grateful and I wish to give thanks in advance, cheers Indiana . . .

Banffshire / Delanlyon - Tomintoul - Kirkmichael
« on: Saturday 09 March 19 13:03 GMT (UK)  »
Does any have any info on Delanlyon - Tomintoul and the families that lived there say in the 1700's even before if it was going - anything will do as I am just trying to build up a picture of the place and does it stand stand today to merit a visit even if in ruins . . .

Where is Delnalyon or Delnalion - well it stands near to Lagganvoulin Tomintoul near to the river Conglass - further up was the Findron stead and anyone having familes there also - Tobain - Gulrigg - Delachule and Auchbegg - the time period must anything prior to 1800's

Anyone got a tale to tell in regard of their family living there - no matter whose family it is and any old photo's going would be amazing with any history that goes to the photo's would even more amazing - cheers Indy

Banffshire / McPherson's of Torbain - Tomintoul - Kirkmichael 1780's
« on: Saturday 09 March 19 12:48 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone have any info of the following McPhersons entertaining Tobain just a stones throw away from Wester Gulrigg or even a Donald Shaw or any Shaws at Tobain - Tomintoul

The 2 births for the Donald and James McPherson are as follows:

DONALD MCPHERSON - JOHN MCPHERSON/PENNY GORDON - 15/5/1786 – Tomintoul – Banff
JAMES MCPHERSON - JOHN MCPHERSON/PENNY GORDON - 13/2/1788 – Tomintoul - Banff

Marriage of:

JOHN MCPHERSON/ PEN. GORDON/26/05/1785/ Kirkmichael and Tomintoul
JOHN MCPHERSON/ PINNY GORDON/ 26/6/1785/ Tomintoul – Banff

John McPherson may have come from out of Tomintoul itself as his registration of marriage is not quite the same as Penuel (Penny – Pinny) Gordon

John and Penny (Penuel) have children as follows:

DONALD MCPHERSON - JOHN MCPHERSON/PENNY GORDON - 15/5/1786 – Tomintoul – Banff
JAMES MCPHERSON - JOHN MCPHERSON/PENNY GORDON - 13/2/1788 – Tomintoul - Banff
JOHN MCPHERSON - JOHN MCPHERSON/PENNY GORDON - 21/3/1790 – Tomintoul - Banff
MARGARET MCPHERSON - JOHN MCPHERSON/PENNY GORDON - 29/0/1792 – Tomintoul – Banff
CLAM MCPHERSON - JOHN MCPHERSON/PENNY GORDON - 15/7/1794 – Tomintoul – Banff
ISABEL MCPHERSON - JOHN MCPHERSON/PENNY GORDON - 26/2/1797 – Tomintoul – Banff

James McPherson was known to be at Tobain in the 1820's and I can't remember when it was that a Donald Shaw was there . . .

Any info kindly received with thanks in advance - Indy . . .
