Lancashire / Murphy Family of Liverpool
« on: Tuesday 03 January 17 19:30 GMT (UK)  »
Hi everyone!

I wonder if anyone could help me track down the Murphy Family of Liverpool. In the 1911 Census I have Patrick Murphy (born Ireland 1861) and his wife Elizabeth (born in Ireland 1864) and their two daughters Anastasia (born 1892) and Catherine (born 1887) living at Athol Street, but after that I lose track of them - all very common names in Liverpool at that time.

I would love to know where they went after that, or at least where they might be buried. Any help would be so welcome!

Shropshire Lookup Requests / Sandford Prees Burial
« on: Thursday 13 October 16 06:47 BST (UK)  »
Hi There,

I'm currently searching for the Burial location of my GGGrandmother, Elizabeth Sutton nee Millington. I know she passed away aged 55 in Sandford Prees in October 1867 but I have no idea where she might buried or how to find out. Her husband survived her and was buried in Liverpool later on with his daughters family, so no clues there.

Perhaps the St Chad's Church in Prees? I wonder if anyone knows the area well, has access to parish records for Prees or could point me in the right direction. Id love to be able to find her.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Lancashire / What happened to Lizzie Byrne?
« on: Saturday 08 October 16 21:18 BST (UK)  »
Hi there!

I'm hoping to track down one of my ancestors Lizzie Byrne but I keep hitting a brick wall - she seems to just vanish! I have her on an 1881 census living in Regent Road with her parents Simon & Mary with her age listed as 17 and birthplace Ireland. This puts her birthdate at around 1864. Knowing the parents were from Wexford, I think I've managed to find her birth record back in New Ross in 1864.

But after 1881 I have nothing, no record of a wedding or a funeral. The majority of the family are buried in a lot in Ford Cemetery but not Lizzie. Perhaps she got married?

I know a few of her brothers and sisters appear on records incorrectly listed as BURNS, but following Elizabeth or Lizzie Burns I still haven't found anything. I wonder if anyone could help? Perhaps with a better understanding of Catholic records. The family appears a lot on the records for St Albans but no sign of Lizzie.

If anyone can help I would be very grateful!

« on: Thursday 08 September 16 07:03 BST (UK)  »
Hi All,

I believe two of my GG Grandparents may have been married at the Immanuel Church in Fauls in around 1876, does anyone know where I might be able to find parish records for this church or whether they even exist?

Many thanks in advance

Family History Beginners Board / Need help finding Sarah Sutton of Shropshire!
« on: Wednesday 08 June 16 21:46 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone can help me track down my great great grandmother Sarah Sutton. I have her marriage to William Arrowsmith in Fauls at the Immanuel Church in July, 1876. This lists her age as 28, currently living in Sandford and her father is listed as a William Sutton, Labourer. She moved to Liverpool after her marriage and on all census from that point on her place of birth is listed as Ash, Shropshire.

But I can't seem to track her down before 1876. Would anyone help me out or perhaps point me in the right direction? It would be very much appreciated!

Shropshire / Help finding Sarah Sutton of Ash, Shropshire
« on: Wednesday 20 April 16 07:28 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone,

I'm having a little trouble tracking down an ancestor, Sarah Sutton. From 1881 onwards I have her on census records as living in Liverpool, where her date of birth is given every time as 1848 and her place of birth as Ash, Shropshire. I also have her marriage certificate showing that in 1876 she married William Arrowsmith in Fauls.

On the marriage certificate her current residence is given as Sanford and her father, William Sutton, is a Labourer. Again her age of 28 puts her DOB around 1848. Only, I can't seem to pin down any record of her before 1876. Would anyone be able to help point me in the right direction to find Sarah and father William?

Thanks so much!

« on: Sunday 17 April 16 00:26 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone,

On a recent census I came across, the building listed was known as 'Blackies Building', Regent Road, Liverpool. Does anyone here know what that building was exactly, or where about on Regent Road it would have been?

Thanks so much,

Simon

Shropshire / Anyone know what HOARSTONE in Fauls was?
« on: Friday 15 April 16 00:16 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone,

I'm currently researching my ancestors - the Ecclestone family and Arrowsmith family - and have found an 1871 census entry that shows them living at 3 Hoarstone in Fauls, Shropshire. Does anyone have any idea what this might have been? They were involved in agriculture if that helps and the Ecclestone family were from the Hodnet area while the Arrowsmiths were from Prees.

Thanks so much in advance!
