This is from the Irish-American newspaper
MC GUIRE June 13 1888, at Opobo, W.C. Africa, Dr. Bernard MC GUIRE, youngest son of Bernard MC GUIRE, Lisduff, county Westmeath, and brother of Rev. Eugene of New York.
I don't even know where to begin looking. I'm trying to figure how the connect to my family. A mother's name would help or if any other nieces or nephews went to join them.
Why was Bernard working in Nigeria? Would that mean he was working for a British company/army?
Where would he have trained to be a doctor? Everyone else was a farmer...
This looks to be his older brother Eugene McGuire in 1880

He was in Brooklyn from 1849-1852.
And that is all I have.
