Dunbartonshire / Can I find out more about Duntocher death? Man falls 80 feet.
« on: Sunday 18 August 13 17:15 BST (UK)  »
While searching on find my past I came across a news paper article dated Thursday May 19th 1938. The Evening Telegraph. Headline " Boy sees man fall 80 feet to death"

"A message boy saw a man hurtle 80 feet to his death in Duntocher, Dumbartonshire. The victim was Andrew Munn (42) unemployed, 1, New Street Hardgate.
A message boy was walking along the boulevard near to the bridge which crosses Duntocher Burn at the west end of the village saw the man fall from the south parapet to the water, 80 feet below.
The boys cries attracted John Keane, a footballer now with Gateshead, who rushed down the embankment to give assistance. The burn was in spate however, and it was impossible to reach the body.
Policemen recovered the body later Munn had suffered sever head and body injuries. Munn leaves his wife and grown up family"

By reading the whole article I am guessing it was suicide, but would like to find out more.

United States of America / Michigan State Prison
« on: Monday 26 November 12 12:48 GMT (UK)  »
I have found my GG Aunt's husband on the 1920 US Census, an inmate in the Michigan State prison. They were married at Highland Park, Wayne, Michigan on the 30th Dec 1925.

His details are Robert Harrington, b.1896 NY. Parents Edwin Harrington and Florence Sinclair.

Would there be anyway I could find out why he was in prison?

Scotland / 1911 Scottish census for a serving soldier
« on: Thursday 07 April 11 12:35 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for my great grandfathers brother on the 1911 Scottish census.

He is not at home with my great grandfather and his other siblings.
He is not married either, but because he was a serving solider with the HLI he may be in barracks somewhere. He served for 12 years until 1914.

His name is John Munn, born 11th April 1885, Dumbarton. Any ideas where to start looking for him?

Technical Help / saving and printing off bpt/marriages records
« on: Sunday 25 July 10 16:43 BST (UK)  »
Hello I need help.
I have been saving bpt, burial and marriage's to my computer from ancestry parish records, to print off.
But they are too small  :( How can I make them larger to fill my A4 size paper when I print it, even better, is it possible to just print off the side I want? Or can I only print it with all four marriages on?

Thank you  ;)

Please could someone do a look up for me.

I have here a birth certificate for a MALE Swift, born 20th May 1861, and his birth was registered on the same day. Didn't know they would register it on the same day.

His parents were William Swift a general labourer, his mother Elizabeth Swift formerly Barwell.

He was born at 5, Denton St, Pancras Rd.
Pancras, Camden Town, Middlesex.

I am hoping someone can find the family on the 1871 census to see what "Male Swift" was named.

Thank you.

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / 1911 census COMPLETED
« on: Friday 01 May 09 18:48 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find my grandmother on the 1911 census, but she is not there  ??? I am guessing that she was not added as her parents were not married. And they were living apart with there own parents, until they married in 1912.
I promised my mother I would post a query her. In case someone can help.

Her name was Annie Elizabeth Porter (her mothers maiden name) she was born 10th Feb 1910, in the workhouse, in Wandsworth. (Swaffield Rd)
Her mother was Elizabeth Kate Porter. I have her on the 1911 census with her parents and sister, but not her daughter.

My grandmothers father was James Cannon, I also have him on the 1911 census with his mother and uncle, but again my grandmother was not there.

She would have been one year and two months old in April 1911.

If she was in hospital would she be on a census in hospital?

Any ideas.

Thank you.
